The big elephant in the room GGG is ignoring?
The Casuals ...
Will GGG stay strong and let the game stay hard or will they start lowering
the difficulty of the game? :lunar2019deadpanpig:
Once the casuals start to realise what game they are playing?

PoE was somewhat easy and not that complicated.
In many situations the mainstream had no issue with it..

With that said, it is a "hard to master" type of game, if you play beyond the 60 hours mark and start wanting to achieve more than just having fun... if you wanna go min/max and go into endgame.. the vast majority of "casuals" mainstream players will either have been long gone before that or adopt into it with easy access to guides and so forth.

What exactly do you find hard in the game? PoE1 doesn't require much skill to play, be it maps or bosses. There are no super difficulty mechanics, reaction checks like Souls-like parries, micro-control and fast decision making like Dota or Starcraft, speed of hands like Rhythm games. You just spend X time to farm/grind/abuse income, exchange it for gear, the end. Build people usually copy and if you started from early years of PoE or just spend thousand hours in it and tried different build types then makes yours. GG

I was gonna say, is is playable on the Steam deck, cause that's what I want to know.

It does not really have any tactical layers either. Its not a complex game.
People that claim it is "hard" are most likely doing so because they wanna compare it to modern day Diablo games, but there are so many other Hack ´n slash games out there.

Hack ´n slash games have overall always been rather easy to play and simplistic in nature (gameplay wise) PoE does have a rather expansive skill system and give you so many options, its great in that way, but for the vast majority, they could easily take on the main game before endgame, without even a guide.

They said somewhere they wanted it to be certified for Steam Deck for the official release, but not sure about Early Access.

They don't care about giga casuals, Jonathan already said on one of the interview, they want to make a hard game, easier to pick up than poe 1, but it's still will be giga hard if you don't have huge experience in arpg games, huge means thousands of hours

This is a classic ARPG, its target demographic isn't fresh casuals. Path of Exile 1 and 2 are both games by fans, for fans.

I do thinik they will at least roll back their, if you fail a map, you cannot run it anymore, as that seems a bit too harsh, ecpecially with disconnects and the like still around.

Honestly, I think a better option there would be your portals are removed once you die. This means you can find another map, you can try again, while keeping dying properly punishing.

Getting a new map is better than bricking your atlas.

They should use 10% xp loss on death starting from level one. Let those pesky casuals bite the dust and take all their cosmetics money to Diablo 4 :lunar2019deadpanpig:

From what is see, there is no loss in xp from lvl 1 to 90, but maps are now made harder, only 1 life inplace of 6 and when you die, you permanently lose that map.

The average player is pretty cool with difficult games. From Soft etc. wouldn't have been such successes otherwise. I'd guess most of the complaints will come from PoE1 players that are surprised by mobs being actually dangerous now etc, but who knows. Hope they'll stick to this, PoE1 is still there for that kind of experience.

What about the cassowary in the kitchen?

I'm assuming it will be a game where you have to actually spend time in and figure out how to do things. I don't understand why so many or I see so much of this narrative online about POE is "hard" "complicated" "they see the Passive Skill Tree and so not for me"

I only hear Streamers say this stuff. Even in Diablo 4 it takes a little while to understand where to go to do certain things to level and gear. It took me some time to really get into Master Working last Season.

Hell even back in the day on Mortal Kombat Deception Konquest Mode I had to look up a guide to find all Chest and stuff.

POE 2 is just a game. Play it. Learn it. Have your fun. Do not be intimidated because it's "POE"

On day 1 I recommend not looking up Guide stuff and just play and fail or succeed and figure things outs for yourself.
