From what I understand - first-world dwellers started abusing the discounted regional pricing with VPNs and what not, the company calculated they are losing more money from first-world than getting from third-world - and dropped regional pricing Such dev supporting, much profit.

cuz its not just a vpn
they have to also have a bank account in the country they are VPN-ing to to have steam swap it so its not easy
and idk if that many people are doing it

funny thing is they did not remove regional pricing. They removed regional pricing for some regions. Turkey, Brazil, Russia still have regional pricing. Makes me wonder why

My tinfoil hat tells me this has something to do with consoles, likely Sony. GGG has always supported regional pricing for every region in 10+ years of PoE, the sudden change HAS to have something to do with the crossplay.

Sony loves to do weird requirements like this for games on their platform.
