they are LOCKED you cannot respec out of them like you could in PoE 1 its been confirmed by Jonathan in one of this interviews so pick carefully as your first ascendy when you will play this amazing game on the EA release :)

Basically a subclass. And yes, you're shown both including their passive points before you make your choice.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of new people - current sales of keys is apparently already over double the poe1 all time peak. And honestly I believe a lot of new people will give this game a negative review once they get stuck on a boss because they refuse to learn the mechanics or upgrade their gear in a smart way. There is going to be quite a lot of friction.
