How does Seasonal resets work?
Hello I know this game has a seasonal model, how does it work exactly? are you forced yo use a new character everytime or can you use an existing character with each season?

Your League character gets put back into Core and you have to start over from level 1 every new League.

if you play seasons then it will eb complete fresh new start, no characters or items from previous season available.
However at the end of season your characters are moved to standard league and you can continue to play there with all your items except if there were some season exclusive items.

Poe1 took the Diablo 2 ladder reset model that was introduce in 2003, in D2 they implemented the ladder reset/new server for a fresh economy
Poe1 takes that to a new level , every 3-4 months a new season with a lot of changes and new content/league mechanic, some of the changes apply to non season/standard league

To play the new league mechanic/new content you will need to make a new character
After the league is over all characters transfer to standard and if the league mechanic is well done and the devs are happy with it they add it to standard too
All the Poe2 endgame systems Breach,Expedition,Ritual,Delirium,Trial of Sekhema(ex sanctum),Trial of the Chaos(ex ultimatum) are past Poe1 league mechanics that they introduced back in the base game and that's how they build a massive endgame system

You can still play non season/standard, you will have a lot of content to do , the reason I don't is that I play for 100-200h/character a season and I do everything I want on that character

Early access, your characters are all going to be placed in a limbo league. Basically they become useless with no access to chapter 4 and beyond as well as any future leagues/seasons or selective updates that is rolled into a permanent standard league.

Seasons, all start from scratch, level 1 and naked.

If you want to play a new league (season), every single person starts fresh and not a single thing from any previous league or standard transfer over. At the end of a league (season), everything you earned and all your characters gets moved to standard.
You can continue playing standard if you want and everything on standard will exist forever, but more than 99% of the player-base does not play standard, so keep that in mind.

HOWEVER, regarding early access of POE2, EVERY character and item from early access will go to a specific early access "realm" and won't be accessible in standard.

More then half the players ignored the leagues entirely. Its only for people that enjoy that type of content. Youre not forced into it.

So The standard league gets all the seasonal leagues? just maybe not some unique mechanics? after the seasonal league ends? so you just play it at a later date on standard?

Not all challenge league mechanics go into the core game, even those that do might not make it into the very next patch cycle, could be the one after that or even later to incorporate a more appropriately scaled version of the mechanic for everyday use.

So no, it's not guaranteed you'll get play all the mechanics if you only play standard league

A league comes out , the league mechanic does well and the community loves it, if the devs are happy with how it works overall they add it to the base game next league or in a few leagues, depends how the mechanic is and how it will fit in the base game
When a league comes out there are base game changes overall, like monster changes, class, item, passive tree stuff like that is base game and league. Base game will not get the extra content at that point.

Poe2 will have a lot of content , like I said all the 7 endgames systems in EA are from Poe1 old league mechanics. Poe2 at release will have 50% more content , right now there are 3 acts 50 really well done bosses, at release 6 acts , 100 well done bosses
and a lot of endgame activities, some uber bosses

Would you happen to have a source for that? You're saying that more than half of the players only played Standard and never touched leagues, which I can't agree with. Everyone I know played leagues at least to some extent.

Yeah, around 99% of players play leagues only. You can see this by looking at player count of the game. When a new league comes out, player count shoots to around 200k, and then a few months after a league has been running, player count is down to like 2k-10k, where most of those players remaining are still playing the league and not in standard.
