what's the point of playing PoE1?

i stopped playing PoE1 years ago but why continue in PoE 1 when PoE 2 seems to be a better product overall and is going to be F2P in 6 and a half months.

probablly different game styles. PoE1 seems to be more fast paced arcade. A lot of people specifically ogs might enjoy that more.

Depends on the player , Poe2 will be slower than Poe1 and some people like the Poe1 fast mapping playstyle, both games will have leagues with different league mechanics
I have 4500h in Poe1 , Poe1 is the evolution of Diablo 2 and Poe2 is the evolution of Poe1

I don't know if I will play Poe1 , next league is in Feb . For me Feb is stacked

Depends on the player, i myself have 0 intention of ever playing PoE1 again and that is fine

Someone who never really played PoE1:

I tried Diablo 1 and 2 but the first was too old for me and part 2 wasnt my jam (at that time). Path of Exile 1 wasnt either. But I play Hunt Showdown and looking at Witchfire (seems cool, wanna try it now) and I like dark fantasy. Aaand I liked Baldurs Gate 3 so the combination of top down and good lore and story and slow paced gameplay like hunt and witchfire will do the trick here. I will start when its 4 free to test it. Maybe games like this will never be my jam but maybe they will be. I dont like fast paced and I am german so its handy that PoE 2 will have german language. I can understand english but german is more comfy.

So it depends on playstyle, artstyle and some other factors I would assume.

People like me only play for a few days to a week each leaguestart. For me POE2 means that i probably get this 8 times a year instead of 4 times.

The gameplay styles seem different enough that people will still favor the first game. PoE 1 will still have its speed farming killing hundreds of mobs while PoE 2 seems slower, more fluid, and boss-fight focused.
