Everyone who's already got their hands on it thinks new players will have a much, much easier time getting into PoE2 than it was to get into PoE1.
Pretty much yes. At least that's the plan. It's going to be pretty different from POE, and with a much better "new player" experience.
If you're just interested in what you saw for POE2 and plan on playing it in Early Access, then I can not advise starting POE1 now, it would honestly be more confusing than helping.
PoE was(is) to complicated for new playes. I gave it about 10k h of my life and every league it was something new...And so im fell my self like a noob evry 3-4month..
Cant even imagine newcomer in 3.25..
So, 10c and ggg present NEW cash grab PoE....
Dying doesn't mean overwhelming, or confusing. You may die, but it's more straightforward than POE1. Also you have a dodgeroll immediatly and combat starts pretty slow.
POE1 campaign is absolutely not as safe as you're implying for new players, you feel that way because you're used to it.
For Poe2 They tested the game and took feedback from people that never played poe
Poe2 will be a lot easier to get into , the skill system is not longer attached to items ,better system explanations, an in-game wiki, recommended support gems for each skill, gold respec ,currency AH (these 2 systems are in Poe 1 too)
Focus on a one thing at a time ,set goals , like finishing the campaign and take it slow, coop will be better too in Poe2 skills interact with each other like they showed in the gameplay trailer so if a player puts down a flame wall you can interact with that shoot lightning through it and it will buff your skill , a lot of interactions like that
You can join discord and ask for help too, or watch videos from content creators like Zizaran
POE2 will be more straight-forward than POE1 to play, in the beginning. I have no doubt that simply based on how POE1 was updated and how leagues work that POE2 will become just as complicated over time.
POE1, during early Closed Beta, was a pretty simple game as well. As an example, the first level 100 basically just used Zombies as a shield and Ground Slam as DPS with nothing really complicated to achieve the feat. Over time, as POE1 received updates and new game modes/items/modifiers/etc. it became a complicated mess. The same will happen to POE2 probably, so Early Access release is probably the best time to start playing.
If you expect a challenge and complexity from a game, then this is your game.
that being said there is nothing to catch up to, you are not competing with anyone, you can play and learn at your own pace.
That's what they are changing in Poe2
The bosses will be hard but you if you want you can go and do a side activity a mini boss and come back later , Jonathan Rogers say that they took inspiration from Elden Ring. The map will have some icons with side stuff you can do.
And I love that , you can explore or spend hours at a boss ,two of my favorite early fights Tree sentinel and Margit I love them so much that I killed them at lvl 1 five times and then did it no hit
