Path of Exile 2

For those that tried it, will it kill POE 1 playerbase?
Im just curious for those that have played POE 2. Do you think there's enough there, that people will just switch en masse, or will this early access period be more like a league and a month from release everyone will go back to playing poe 1 until some more content dribbles out? Im kinda hoping that both games league style updates, are in between each other to share the playerbase back and forth.

I mean this is a direct upgrade over the first game, so one would think poe1 enjoyers would organically migrate to the second game since its mostly better in every way

It would if they would make PoE2 basically a copy of PoE1 with same gameplay, crafting, etc.

But since it's different, PoE2 has much simpler crafting system and gear drops matter more there, its generally slower pace, while PoE1 has its complex crafting system that makes items better than anything you could drop and has faster pace, both games will have good playerbase, while current PoE1 playerbase will play both games a lot because how they going to release new leagues(seasons).

Most of people play PoE1 leagues for around 1-1.5months while leagues last 3-4months (except last one), they will release new league of PoE2 in middle of league of PoE1 when most people already drop it, and it will cycle.

The plan was with seasons they will have alternating seasons between the two games so new content is dropping for both offset to avoid as much cannibalization of the player base. So i'm sure it will have SOME impact, but since the majority play seasons it might not be a massive change.

Yes, but do you think there will be enough there in the near term to hold peoples attention / end game etc, or will people beat the game in 3 days and go back to POE 1 the moment a league is out?

It will kill everything!

I expect people will play PoE2 for 4-6 weeks.
A usual league starts dying down around 3-4 weeks.

It's a fresh game with a lot to discover, but still has less end game content than PoE1 to keep people busy.

PoE1 league comes out in late January which will pull them back too.

They will not start the leagues of both games in parallel. So they will take turns with new leagues. Theoretically you could then jump between PoE1 and PoE2. We will see how good that will work in the future.

I found POE 1 easier to play in terms of difficulty. I think this forum and reddit will have lots of folks complaining initially about the difficulty and say it is too hard. Devs have already told folks in the last live stream that sometimes in POE 2 you need to leave hard bosses or areas and come back to them.

Yeah, i don't think PoE2 will be slower paced. Just wait for the first 20 hours to pass after release and someone will have a zoom-zoom build.
GGG have never presented the game as a cluster f**k bullet hell. Even their PoE1 gameplay in the past was slow paced like you're playing DnD.
The crafting is simpler because they are consolidating the 75 league mechanics that you needed to know about in PoE1, otherwise it's kinda the same.

They will cycle the season things between both games. So will prob pull players between both games. Tho I guess at some point they will discontinue POE1.

For me I don't know, I'm super hyped for Poe2 , it looks like the evolution of Poe1
I have 4500h in Poe , next league will be out in like late Feb and in Feb there are a lot of games that I'm interested in ,Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth,KCD2 , Monster hunter wilds

From the looks of it Poe2 will not be 100% as fast as Poe1 and some people like the fast gameplay that Poe1 has , I don't really mind either way, I'm not as fast as the top players
If a Poe1 league mechanics looks cool and interesting I might still play

Just wrong, and here's why. Just by looking at gameplay itself, PoE2 combat is more responsive, slower and abit souls like, compare to PoE1 where you press one button that does gazillion damage and kill everything with moveskill inbetween.

In PoE2 there's much less movespeed scaling from what i saw. i played 300% ms cyclone in PoE1, you literally moving at lightspeed while using cyclone at same time, so fast it can cause vertigo lol, its not happening in PoE2.

I think PoE will remain as long as they keep the servers running
It will probably keep having a loyal playerbase

PoE 2 will make changes
While most will appreciate these changes I think, there will probably be those who will despise them and prefer the old way

Get ready for "PoE 2 is casual garbage game" kind of posts
That's my prediction anyway
SK Nov 26, 2024 @ 8:33am
Personally I'll be playing both as long as they keep staggering league launches.

Especially if they have different challenge rewards in each. Can earn cosmetics in one game to use in the other.
