Why can't they add in a Holy power set?
I will never understand how devs that make these type of games, are more focused on powers of darkness, blood magic, and so on, but I never see Holy powers. Why is that?

Saying lightning or cold or fire is good enough, you do not understand at all, as there are prior games that had Holy power sets available, but over the years, it seems as though these types of games moved away from Holy, and focused more and more on powers of evil and darkness.

It would be nice if the devs would actually take some time to create a proper Holy power set.

Wdym ? PoE 1 have a fair bit of "holy" power or even MTX that change skill effect to be "holy". If I would take a guess, the Templar class -similar to Paladin- that wouldn't be available at the EA yet would add a fair bit of "holy" skills.

Generally speaking most ppl think that "demon", "dark", etc. is more cool than "light" and "holy".
And if most ppl wanna be dark, then they will obviously focus more on darkness cuz it will bring more money.

You aren't changing the skill to "Holy" at all, its just an effect that makes fire or whatever look different. There is no actual Holy power. They have Fire, lightning, Cold, etc, but NOT Holy.

There are a lot of people who enjoy light and holy, and they would make a lot of money adding those in. They have the ability to do so, I just fail to understand why they limit themselves in this way.

Because what actual "holy" power will do to rogue exile, tickle it abit with its light? There are literal "holy" skills, like Divine Ire, Wave of Conviction, Holy Flame Totem, Summon Holy Relic, and thats not full list, there's even Consecrated Ground in game.
EDIT. As for poe2, just wait for templar, he'll most likely be "holy" skills class.

I guess I could see them adding holy, but it would basically be more of a player-only used damage type because there's very few enemies in this series that would use holy. Innocence comes to mind.

Right now it's just fire, lightning, cold, and chaos. I wouldn't say that's an abundance of evil and dark powers. Holy would have to have a special niche to be worth adding as an actual damage type, otherwise physical or lightning based spells like wave of conviction that look holy kinda serve the same purpose.

Wasnt Innocence a bad guy that we killed in poe 1?
bean Nov 25, 2024 @ 7:18pm
also, with spirit being added to the game it kind of adds to that holy templar feel, i have some holy mtx on my templar and make him look paladin-ish

It would be kind of a cool addition, perhaps as a counter to chaos damage

I don't feel like it is something necessarily missing from the game, but it sure would be cool if they did add something like that so ppl like me and the OP can get all inquisitiony

Not really a bad guy. Just a god doing godly thing. I vagly remember that killiing him free our godly side kick who was a bit edgy. Also, follower of a VERY bad ancient god went berserk right after killing EVERYONE.

If you mean MTX or skills, there are Holy themes for both. The skills usually do Fire damage.

In terms of Holy damage, I'm not sure what it would do. Chaos is already the effective "True" damage of PoE, it's less common, bypasses energy shield and has it's own resistance that is less common.

What about story of PoE 2? Are we still exiles and we still try to kill gods?

Y ou missed physical spells like summon holy(!) Relic, purifying flame, penance brand. Also, adding new damage type would affec on so much aspects of game you can't even imagine. And we still don't know anything about other 2 third parts of sub classes. We know about wolf transformation(and I think it will be more universal than druid's bear form) but what if they have huge plans about future leagues?
Finally, Poe is a dark fantasy, and usually those holy guys, saints, priests, inquisitors etc are pretty cruel and arrogant

I guarantee those blood sacrifices to appease ancient primordial space spaghetti is considered holy by their followers. Holy is all a matter of perspective. The game actually has a TON of religious subtext.
