It's not an mmo , it's an arpg with coop, you can do everything solo, there is no content that requires a group, but if you coop you get bonus to exp, drops
Coop will be better in Poe2 compared to Poe1 ,skills interact with each other like they showed in the gameplay trailer so if a player puts down a flame wall you can interact with that shoot lightning through it and it will buff your skill , a lot of interactions like that
