Dose PoE2 have a pet class like PoE1's Necromancer?
I really enjoy playing pet classes which is why I liked the Necromancer.

There doesn't appear to be an ascendency as focused on minions as necromancer was in poe1. Witch will probably still have the best minion support at the start of her passive tree though, and it looks like infernalist is going to have the most straight forward minion builds. One of the infernalist nodes gives her a dog pet that shares some of the damage she takes.

There is no single minion class, but there are a lot of minion skills and everyone can use them.

When Druid is added they'll add animal based minions too.

I'll bet a dollar that Templar will also introduce new minion skills when it comes out, but that could be nearly half a year from now.

Templar? Why would templar be minion based :O? That doesn't make sense at all.

Not directly minion based, but having minions and auras together on my Templar was a build I loved doing in POE 1.

Ah okay, now it does make sense :D!

Out of what was revealed so far Infernalist has a pet hellhound. But the rest of the skills don't really seem pet focused.

It's very likely we wont see a Necromancer, so far none of the original poe1 ascendancies have made it to poe2.

I want diablo 2 necromancer.

My guess is that the third Ascendancy for Witch that will not be in early access is going to be Necromancer, but not right now. Shame, I was going to go for that too; Necromancer is my go-to in just about everything (though I like me a good mix of minions, debuffs and direct damage). I'll probably go Blood witch, I am incredibly tired of Necromancers going full fire. What is even up with that?!

Acsendancy for Ranger already existed in PoE 1 (Deadeye & Pathfinder) and you could argue that Stromweaver is really similar to the previous Elementalist ascendancy.

Do we know which ascendancy is more suited for minion playstyle

So far from some streams and talk Infernalist seems to be the favorite as the Minion Ascendancy (and probably will be on release). It starts with a Hellhound and we don't know what half the other nodes are. They could be minion related too like the winged branch on the far left of the tree seems promising/related to each other.

This video was the first one I saw that said so, stating that GGG themselves told him the most "Miniony" Witch Ascendancy was going to be Infernalist:

1 minute mark.

The real summoning class is the Witch Class itself, since it starts with unique starting Minion nodes that increase Minion/Spell Damage that no other class gains access to (Sorcerer will get their own nodes in those starting places and other classes other more general nodes).

Basically, the theme goes witch for necro/elemental minions
druid for nature minions
templar for holy minions

Merc Gemling Legionnaire looks like an interesting ascendancy for minions and a lot of type of builds All classes start in the middle and you get to pick your attributes like str, int, dex

Yeah Minion Gemling is just flat out interesting. :D

To clarify what I said above:

Even though every starting class gets their unique starting nodes at the beginning of their tree progression, the fact that travel nodes can be customized like you say and Ascendancies being less specifically "role focused," means that classes of all types can be made into all types of build archetypes moreso than PoE1.

That said, something like the Witch Unique Starting Nodes + Ascendancy Minion Nodes + Location at the middle of tree, likely gives Witch a headstart the same way Necromancer Ascendancy tended to outpace other class Minion builds. It just depends on whether you have some really specific thing you're going to exploit with another class that puts them ahead.
Breeze Nov 27, 2024 @ 6:49am
Infernalist seems to be the most pet focused class atm. Summon Raging Spirit was so popular in PoE 1 it seems they made a whole ascendancy class around it. SRS skulls are even in her art.

Gemling Legionnaire might be a decent pet class too because of bonuses to gems.

There's very likely going to be a tanky aura focused class that's good with minions like Guardian in the first game.

I fully expect Necromancer to be Witch's third ascendancy class though. It's probably just not finished yet.
