Because it's an alpha (feature and content aren't complete, so it's not even a beta). It will be less polished than some people expect it to be. Is that something you want to expose yourself to?
So if you were planning on spending a bit of cash anyways for in-game purchases after release, then you may as well do it now and enjoy the beta. It's going to be a 6+ month wait otherwise.
And really, if you plan on playing for a decent amount of time, at bare minimum you'll want to spend a bit anyways for a currency tab and maybe a couple of others so your stash isn't a stressful mess of stuff.
Yes, you should wait. Unless you don't mind spending xx $ on free game.
Though be aware - in this game you also have to pay for so called microtransactions to have fun (buy stashes, etc.) so at the end it won't be free.
No harm done in waiting, then again, people spent 100$+ to play D4 3 days early :D and this will run you a max of 30$ and whatever you consider to be a good value, I think this is it. At least game content wise compared to D4.
In regards of spending money for MTX, you will get 300 points of in game currency with the cheapest pack, for which you can buy Stash Tabs (which you should ONLY buy during sales)
You absolutely DO NOT NEED to buy any stash tabs, it will make your inventory a mess if you dont though and is is strongly advised that you at least buy the Currency tab at the bare minimum + the premium stash tab (for which the 300 points will be more than enough during a sale)
+1
1) The experience now compared to full release will be different (maybe not vastly, but it will be different as GGG tune their back-end and fix game issues)
2) I don't want to spoil my experience of the game when half the ♥♥♥♥ that's supposed to be in it on release isn't in it now
3) I just don't want to pay $30+ for a game that will release and be free forever. I don't plan on buying anything from the store. I never have and never will. There's more important things I can spend my $30 than a free game. (I've got 2k+ hours in the game and somehow managed without any special stash tabs or anything like that)
1 and 2 are definitely things to consider as with any EA
If you intend to purchase in-game stuff you can go for EA pack right now. As others said, you pretty much get EA for free when you buy at least 300 coins (30$ pack). I had money either for stalker 2 or PoE 2, this early access looks way more complete so went with PoE
i'll get this game, screw Diablo 4 im done
full stash tabs (one of each) costs arround ~ 85$
in reality u want more than one, especially premium stash tabs (u can only trade from premium stash)
so realistically for stash tabs you will spend at least ~ 100$+

Best thing to use points on is stash tabs
Full skin packs cost 40$ to 85$ each:
https://www.pathofexile.com/shop/category/armour-effects
Atlantis Armour Pack = 84$
Despair Armour Pack = 84$
Winter Dragon Armour Pack = 42$
Siren Armour Pack = 42$
etc.
yes, Path of Exile skins are among the most expensive in the genre
