30$ USD not FREE.

My brother has been anoying me to play poe since ever.

i tried playing POE but it was too overwelming since i saw the skill tree (or whatever is callled) is way to big for new player to even want to read about.

So i told him if Poe2 was free i would jump into it and see if i would go deep later if i like it (paying the game). But now i'm faced against a $30 USD to play "early version" of a "Free to play" tagged game.

Now i'm not sure if i want to even engage to try the game.
I know devd won't care but it's something to think about.

At least be clear and say it's a paid alpha/beta.

there is nothing to think about, please learn to read. it is 30bucks for the early access and it will become free as soon as it releases. just wait 6months and it will be free

It's a free to play game where they can make some money by offering early access

If you want free, wait

If you don't want to wait, pay

It's not a hard choice

You can respec in POE2 with gold so the annoying stuff of POE1 has gone away

They did a cool thing to allow all micro transactions from the first game to transfer to the second, so we keep our stash tabs and stuff, which is 1000000% awesome choice by the devs and much appreciated

This game will sell like hotcakes come December 6

Other people paying for early access and buying stuff is what lets you play the game for free later on

You should be happy for that

P.S. as with most current day ARPGs, the bulk of the game will be done season to season, so you joining in 3 years from now won't set you back anything, as you are playing a game for enjoyment and will be learning about season stuff just like everything else

P.P.S why do you care about being competitive if you are so hardlined about things being free. What else can you be competitive on and remain free to close your wallet on these days?

They have leagues. You start over anyways. And the game is not free to play. You will have to buy a bare minimum of tabs to even enjoy the game. The FTP is just a taste to get you to play.

You probably think that the developers at Grinding Gear Games get free meals, free housing, free computers and tools to develope the game.

You might just think that they are making this game out of kindness of their hearts just so you can play for free.

This is a game many have been looking forward to and are hyped up about

There are a -lot- of trolls coming into this forum to troll jesters/make people mad

You came in hostile and should expect resistance to your opening post

No-one is forcing you to buy the early access pack of 30 dollars (which comes with 30 dollars worth of points for stash tabs/cosmetics etc) to play it on December 6th

It's completely up to you, its all spelt out, there's no bait and switch here, its how all developers should be about their monetisation (openly stating what is and isn't)

You could spend 10 times as much on Diablo 4 and feel very burnt for your purchase (like i have, even if it was with wow tokens for the Ultimate edition of D4, still feel burnt)

You have the freedom to try the full game down the line for free and see if you like it

Afaik, you won't be able to use the characters from early access in the leagues, once the game is released. However, what you purchased with the 30$ / 300 in game currency, will be usable at release. If you're a new player, the extra stash tabs, which are a must.

Dude, I'm sorry, but I'll tell you how it is.
This game is for people who can or want to think. You clearly have problems with that.
ALL the information you're asking about here is in the public domain in open sources. For some reason, I, a non-English speaking player, pulled out all the information I needed the very next day after the announcement. It's strange that you couldn't do the same.
Tell your brother that he's cool since he plays PoE and recommends the game. And go back to, I don't know, Horizon for example. Or Diablo 4.
