Yeah wanting to see visually how much damage an "upgrade" or "not" does is so toxic and wrong. I'm so sorry I don't want to sit and trust a 3rd party app and afk on that more than the game.
Please step away from the keyboard and go and find something else to do with your sad life.
Here's a shocking idea, fix the numbers. World of Warcraft has done it multiple times.
Lower mob health, reduce damage massively, give the numbers a gigantic squish.
Math is quicker, problem sorted.
Or atleast add a target dummy to the game for people to test without running all their time and "trusting" a 3rd party app.
GGG can explain all they want, they had the option with PoE2 to fix problems like this, reduce loot clutter (and make it more level based) but they haven't. That's not the players issue, it's GGG's god awful development path / vision issue.
Having damage numbers is no more laughable than the insane amount of JUNK that EXPLODES from mobs 24/7 that actually causes deaths due to 3-4 second lag spikes on high end gaming rigs. Oh what's that, 20 maps... brb whilst I make a cup of tea.
The question you should ask yourself is if Blizzard can do it why can't GGG?
Also FYI, the game is already doing all these calculations, simply displaying the data that's already there is hardly going to be a performance problem. Spamming the screen problem? Yeah, likely, but filters and such could be added. It ain't hard GGG are just making it hard, and it's exactly why I refuse to spend any more on the game.
Again, so you can understand, the numbers are already there in the background, they just ain't being displayed.
this isn't world of warcraft, this isn't final fantasy xiv, this isn't guild wars 2, this is an ARPG not an MMORPG, the only ARPG with children damage numbers is diablo 4 and that game is for toddlers so there is always that option if damage numbers and rainbows and pink unicorns is your thing.
You're clearly in need of help.
You will have damage numbers on bosses like in Elden Ring, that's it. Damage number are breaking the immersion from the game which is why they don't add them and i'm 100% with them here. If you are not on board with their vision you can play other games like LE and D3-D4.
