Please, no more globally unique names

In PoE 1, character names were globally unique. They were also occasionally pruned from characters that weren't played in a while. When creating a new character, you could be almost certain that your first 25 attempts (for anything other than possibly xXXPillowHumpoTronXXx) would be already taken.

This has been a real hurdle for when trying to get back into the game. "Ah I don't know. I want to try this again. Let's create a character... *20 minutes later* ARRGGHH" and by then my patience will already have been shot into pieces. I want a good looking name that fits, but I'm forced into some leetspeek hax crap.

Let names be account unique. Other games do this without problem. Where the name is shown in-game, have it simply show as is, add an account prefix wherever precision might be needed (such as when hovering, inspecting, in chat, when adding friends or reporting or whatever). This is "Nera"! (aka Gurka:Nera) or whatever.

Agree! am thankful I got into PoE quick to get a few decent names. Now I need to name new ones chocopickle557 to get into game.

account to character name.. then dealing with duplicates names and server merges. It was interesting to see xxx1, xxx2, xxx3, xxx4 and so on few for few days. I generally have unique names that do not fight this problem but so many idiots think alike for the heroes or persona, its par for the course when you when you run into a name collision. It is not the game engine's responsibility for your lack of creativity. Making things unique is account id attached or number to the name. I would think your unique xxx1234 or xxx2345 would be annoying in a common gaming session to you as a player. Who stole whose name first...
