Gold is non tradeable. It is used to buy gear from vendors during the campaign (You can still sell gear for currency shards instead if you want). It will also be used for respeccing the passive tree. Cheaper at early levels and not to bad at 60-70 but more expensive after that.

It will also be used as a fee to interact with the instant buyout trade system. The gold used as a fee goes into the system and not to the seller. The Seller gets the currency items they want to trade it for. (The old trade system will also exist if you want to trade face to face and that will not have a gold fee, because that system has its own friction with ppl not answering all the time) Gold is not used for anything else.

Do you know one of the reasons players play Poe?
Maybe cos of it's unique and not perfect or balanced acquiring system?
Far away lands used to imprison , contain and kill, but lets go and make some coins so we can "trade"!?

Of course i now why we play poe. But trade is a big talking point in the community, Everybody hates having to whisper 20 ppl too trade an item. That system will still be in poe 2 as well and that systems "Friction" is that ppl don't bother responding etc, but Instant buyout will also be an option where you can buy an item for the same currency we use today but gold is that systems "Friction" and used to pay the fee for instant buyout instead of whispering 20 ppl. Using gold to trade currency items will not cost that much gold and instant trade armor etc will cost a big gold fee. Use the one you want.

Gold is also Not tradable.

I have over 6K hrs in poe. 1,6khrs on steam and the rest is on the official launcher before it launched on steam.

You dont think micros are coming with implementation of gold!?
What is the palpable benefit to player's?
Wonder the reasoning of company placing it !?

If they called gold, "currency of madness" instead, would you still be angry?

If they do bad things with gold, call them out for it.
Don't assume things without the full context

Yea, that is why asking questions is better, no?
Wonder what that "?" symbol means in text form?

What do you mean with micros coming with implementation of gold? You think they would add an option to purchase gold on the store is what you're saying?

Cause that will never happen.

They have already stated that the store will still be the same as today with stash tabs + cosmetics and skill effects etc

Instant buyout trade has to have some sort of friction to not have prices go out of whack.
Gold is that friction.

The reason the trade system we use now doesn't use gold and won't use gold in poe 2 is because the friction is having to interact with other people and go to their hideout's and the issue with people not responding.

Using gold to get some items from vendors during the campaign is also a good thing in my opinion, cause then you can use all your currency items for actual crafting and trading instead.

Also don't see a problem using gold for respec instead of orb of regrets.

It will allow more experimentation during the campaign and early endgame

"So you really don't want people to play?" you were judging, not asking

What dose the rest of Poe players think about implementation of gold in store?
Friction for what?Solo game play?Wisdomscroll, alteration, transmutation to hard to get,to little friction?
The players not responding is maybe cos most systems used to play Poe are out side the game???
Yea cos getting items from vendor in Poe is so difficult with wisdoms, alterations, transmutations, right???
If with gold respec like D4 instead of "Regret orb"how will it help???
Wouldn't players still use PoE Build out side of Poe and just don't have as many characters per account?
Would gold actually benefit players with the respect?
Or maybe it's just a way to get to the D4 system of gold and on top implement it to store?
GGG is run 94% by 10cent, no?Large company's just love losing money on "free to play"??

Pretty sure they added gold so they can control certain game mechanics instead of letting the community control it.
Right now the community controls how much it cost to respec. Community also controls stuff like the 20 chisels for 8 chaos that Kirac sells and whether thats a good deal or not.

With gold the devs can decide what you get for xx amount of time spent playing and because its not tradable, players have no influence over it.
Some mechanics are just too important to be left in the players hands :lunar2019grinningpig:

If GGG or Tencent was planning to sell you in game currency for $$... they would have done it a long time ago in PoE1.

It's a double edge sword taking control after you gave it away.
Main game currency "bank" is not bad that it have Base foundation game economy, but and it always have a "but" it's way to easy after that to just place it in store. Not to make it P2W but Pay to progress with the in game mechanic.
And for putting in in Poe long time ago you have Stash buy for "convenience".
Making the current game bad with micros is likely to shine bad light on second game, so no they will not place things like gold or heavy micros in old game.
What is more likely to happen is make new game popular so they can "sunset" first one and then implement cash shop on the second game. But hope am wrong.
