Gameplay reminds me of Nex Machina...
But with more gore. Looks sick!

Our team loves Nex Machina.

Glad to hear you're excited for KILL KNIGHT :)

Nex Machina was a masterpiece and if this is inspired by it that's promising!

I'd love to play Returnal, but I don't own a PS5, and Steam Deck is not powerful enough. If you have PS5 or PS4 then check out their other games: Dead Nation, Alienation, Matterfall and my personal favourite: Resogun. I wish Sony would port all of them to PC.

I was disappointed replayability wise by Nex Machina (not to mention I sucked at it :D), which sold so poorly on Steam it essentially made its dev swear off PC games, I read, which I assume is why we never got PC ports of Dead Nation or Alienation, despite the success of Arrowhead's Helldivers here. Although Returnal eventually made it to PC.

I loved Resogun on PS Vita - honestly, it and Helldivers Vita version were the only Vita games I got hooked on.

Nex machina has maybe the strongest foundation in design and game feel for its genre, but has some severe flaws. It’s made partly by Eugene Jarvis, the guy who made robotron and smash TV. It’s very obvious that very talented people worked on the game, but the game was abandoned before its glaring issues were resolved:

1.) auto-enabled HDR that makes the game look very dark and dim, this issue is hard to fix if it happens and there’s no option to disable it. Leads to horribly visual clarity issues

2.) death system is poorly implemented. If you lose all lives you have to use a continue, and once you use a continue you lose all your powerups; this is poorly done because using a continue at a later boss means you are completely screwed no matter how good you are. You’ll probably burn through all your continues so once you use 1, you might as well just restart the game.

3.) absolutely horrible replay value. Almost no modes and they’re essentially just choosing whether to do all 5 levels or 1 one of the 5 levels. No arena mode, no interesting modifiers etc.

The most complete arcade twinstick on steam is still Assault Android Cactus

Speaking of AAC, the shooting and arena morphing mechanics in this game feel a lot like AAC, as does the flowy feeling.
