"Real knights use a gamepad"
Why, pray tell, are you outright insulting a large swathe of your prospective customers on loading your game?

I cannot fathom why you would even presume to tell customers what input device they should prefer, an action that does no one the least bit of good, changes no one's input preference, weirdly infantilizes players, and can only be negative. It's especially weird in a game that should work just as well either way. Do you imagine a kbm player will suddenly just become enlightened in your glory, go buy a controller, and only then come back to play your game? Had the fools only realized sooner how unqualified they were to form preferences!

Even if the game were better on controller, you're still insulting a prospective customer, and you're making everyone spend time clicking through your input shaming, every single time. It's more important to you to insult customers repeatedly than it is to bother noticing you just loaded a save and we've already seen your condemnation of those filthy kbm knight-wannabes--or maybe our gnat-like minds are too meager to remember how filthy we're supposed to know they are, and you feel we need the reminder each time.

That screen should have never seen the light of day, and we certainly should not have to take time on it each and every game start. No one is going to change input devices for you, and it's not your place to ask, let alone going so far as insulting them, let alone repeatedly.

Input device bigotry is toxic and bad. Don't tell people what to prefer. Don't waste people's time every game start on these foolish messages. Don't insult people who take time out for your demo. Do take steps to make sure your game plays as well as it can regardless of input preference or layout.

Real knights add remapping early in development.

Did you really waste time of your life to write that ♥♥♥♥?

Devs do it to get ahead of people who will complain about a game being bad, when the real issue is that they didn't realize they were using the sub-optimal input method (although it won't get ahead of at least one complainer it seems :) )

Real gamers know how to play Kb&m AND controller and will use the best one for the game they're playing.

I saw that message and noticed there’s no key rebinding for keyboard. Well that was the quickest alt+f4 and uninstall of 2024. Go sell your game exclusively on consoles then and take it off steam if « real knights use a game pad ».

I hope the devs don’t let stuff like this get to them. I know it must be annoying dealing with posts/comments like this when you worked hard on the game. People like this are bullies and the dev did nothing to deserve being talked down to like this.

The only toxic thing I see is people like this blowing a simple 5 word screen out of proportion. Obviously the game was designed with controllers in mind and is just a “controller recommended” screen. You already know input mapping is coming but you keep making posts like these whining and calling things toxic while acting like the world revolves around you and your preferences

Yeah, no. Tried a controller once, it wasn't for me. But you do you.

If not using a controller means I'm not a "rEaL gAMeR", then I certainly don't want to be one.

in my book a "real gamer" uses whatever the hell he wants, and let others use whatever the hell they want without throwing shame around.

Indeed, use the right tool for the job at hand.

No one forced them to make a gatekeeping, input shaming click through screen. We don't need games to "recommend" how we play them, and we certainly don't need them doing it in such an ugly fashion. I'm just really tired of input bigotry, and click-through timewasting. I know some people have to white knight for devs, but "working hard on a game" doesn't entitle one to be a jerk. There's absolutely nothing here about the work they put into the game, just a very bad idea that they failed to cull before it was in front of players, that detracts from their otherwise pretty good work. They should know better.

Which no one needs or benefits from. These need to go away, not be encouraged.

That's just a weird way to turn things. My comments about input mapping have been letting people who ask know it is coming later, and not something to worry about getting left out of the demo, and forum search says this is the only post in the forum that even uses the word "toxic". I did build and share a couple Steam Input configs for people who might want to try different controls for comparison, and to fix some problematic control mistakes devs made in the demo, but that constructiveness hardly seems to warrant such personal attack.

Quite so. We don't need any more pressuring people to use one device or another. We're all capable of making our own choices about what plays well for us. I'll play pretty much any action game on controller, because I really don't like the feel of kbm (even besides how much kbm gaming hurts my hands/wrists, and really isn't a viable option for me anyway). These click-through screens are just foolish wastes of time, and only encourage input-choice toxicity and resentment, not serve a useful function that's worth players having to wait and click through it every game start, across a variety of games that often aren't even genuinely better on controller.

And we certainly don't need a dev escalating such a useless time-waster to weird gatekeeping.

Do you also cry at the Yakuza devs?

Many games indicate which would be the best peripheral to use.
You are wasting everybody's time, but that's probably the point.
lmao

correct me if i'm wrong but game is a TWIN stick shooter, and other things, and as far as i know, kb/m dont have twin sticks.

been playing these so called twin stick shooters for years with keyboard and mouse and it's by far the best way of playing such games. far more precise aiming with a mouse than fumbling with your thumbs on joysticks lmao.
