I keep seeing terms like increase slot. What does that mean?

Perhaps you are thinking of some items that add another space to store dice (for example, if the dice bag could store 3 dice, an item might make it so you could store 4).

"Dice Slots" are the spaces at the bottoms of Hero, Companion, and Enemy cards. The spaces that you drop dice on to "complete" them.

"Total Slots" are dice slots that have a number on them. You have to reduce the number to zero by dropping dice on it. Some enemies have a skill that increases the numbers in Total Slots; it might be just the enemy's own Total Slots, or "all" Total Slots (including other enemies, your hero, and your companion).
