Can you save mid battle?

If i remember correctly you could not in Quest for the Golden Candelabra.

Unfortunately you cannot, no. You can only save your progress in between combat encounters.

Allowing for mid-combat saves would require a lot of additional development effort, and other areas of the game needed more priority.

I feel that would trivialize some encounters. This is a reasonable restriction, even on Insane difficulty.

I don't understand how it would trivialise some or even any encounters.

What I am talking about is a save system that simply saves the game as if in a pause state and allows you to turn off the pc.
Restarting the game and then "continuing" the game from where you left off.
Once you continue the save disappears.

I do not mean having a manual save where you could reload it if the battle goes belly up, which is what I think you are referring to.
