What are forbidden spells?

I have yet to come across anything with the label of “forbidden spell” even after beating Act 4 so I can’t figure out what to aim for to try to unlock the next character

They're what a spell turns into if it has all of its stones removed, note that it seems that you can only do it to spells that only have regular stones (eg: no soulstones for its casting cost) from what I've seen so far. Oh, also the spell will return to normal after combat.
