Chronology FAQ
Word up, virtual friends.

A few questions seem to pop up regularly in regards to Chronology. So we’ll start by answering the most common ones right here.

WHERE DO I FIND MORE INFO ABOUT THE GAME?
You can either browse through the Chronology Steam front page or visit the Chronology Website[www.osao.com] for more info and press releases.
If you need something else shoot us a mail and we’ll do our best to help you out…

WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THE DEMO?
Sorry, there’s no demo so you’ll have to take our word that the game is awesome :)
If that’s not enough, you can find some game play videos around the web to get a better sense of the game or check out our trailer on the Steam Store front page.

COULD YOU GIVE ME MORE INFO ON THE STORY AND CHARACTERS?
Yes.

AWW, COME ON. SPILL THE BEANS, MAN!
Alright, the game revolves around an inventor who is able to travel between before and after the end of the world. Our story begins, as the inventor wakes to discover the world has ended, and has no memory of his past. After finding a time travel device that can take him back in time, his memory slowly returns... He teams up with a snail, who can stop time, and together they set out to fix the future by changing the past.

HOW DO THE CORE MECHANICS WORK?
To put it very short: You control the inventor (who can run, jump, pick up and interact with objects in various ways and time travel) and the snail (who can climb walls, block dangers with her shell and stop time).
The time traveling and stopping time is done with the switch of a button so you can do both ‘on the fly’. The entire world exists in two versions – before and after the end of the world. By manipulating the past things change in the future and a lot of puzzles are solved by taking advantage of this.
The complexity and fun starts the puzzles start mixing in the time stopping, bringing things between the two times and the abilities of the two characters.

WHERE CAN I GET THE AWESOME SOUNDTRACK?
You can stream the soundtrack for free (and buy it for $3 USD if you really like it) here![chronology.bandcamp.com]
The entire soundtrack was composed by our Game Director, Niels (Stöj Snak[stojsnak.bandcamp.com] is his one-man-band).

I’M A SOCIAL MEDIA GLUTTON. WHERE CAN I FOLLOW YOU?
You can follow us on Facebook[www.facebook.com] and Twitter.

WHY CAN’T I PLAY CO-OP WITH MY FRIEND?
Sorry. You cannot. The game has been designed as a single-player experience.

The flow of the game and the puzzles have been designed around this and we’ve concluded that adding a co-op mode to the game’s current design would not make sense unless we compromise some other parts of the game that we have esteemed higher for the overall experience.

THIS GAME IS JUST A BRAID CLONE. YOU SUCK!
Thank you for your kind words.

Just to clarify a bit, yes, Chronology has similarities with Braid – both are platform games and have puzzle solving revolving around time modification.
However, the time travel puzzles in Chronology are typically built around the fact that plants grow big, objects decay and characters grow old over time – with the addition of also being able to stop time. Furthermore, you play as two characters that you must make work together using their individual abilities.

So, while Braid is certainly not the worst game to get compared to, Chronology plays quite differently and has to a larger extent been inspired by classic games like Day of the Tentacle and The Lost Vikings.

WHERE YOU FROM? YOU TALK FUNNY.
I talk funny? You should hear you from my end.
But actually it’s not so strange if we sound a bit funny – we are a pretty international team.
We’re all located in Denmark and while a couple of guys carry the Lars Ulrich accent due to their Danish roots, our artist Juan is from Spain and our producer Vio is from Rumania. And to add to that our voice actors are mostly American.
So there you go Chronology brings the world together in beautiful harmony.

WHAT LANGUAGES DO THE GAME SUPPORT?
The spoken language in the game is English (primarily by our two awesome lead voice actors Catty Donnelly and Nicki Rapp) but we support subtitles in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese. Just make your selection from the Option Menu in the game.

WHAT PLATFORMS DO THE GAME SUPPORT?
Currently our main focus is the PC build but we are working hard to bring the game to the mobile platforms (iOS and WIndows Phone) later in 2014.

We hope this gave you a bit of clarity on Chronology otherwise we’ll be happy to answer anything else you want to know. Just throw your question in our forum or below…

Cheers,
The Chronology Team
