I thought this game would be as fun as the original Motherload
I loved the original flash game Motherload, and I used to play it a lot. I was excited for this game to be released and I thought it would be like the original. I was wrong.

The first thing I noticed was how I can damage my hull by speeding into the walls. I can understand this a bit, so I am willing to accept it. It doesn't make much sense not to damage somebody when slamming into a wall at full speed.

The thing I dont like the most is how the standard difficulty is too easy. You cant run out of fuel underground. Instead you go to the lowest fuel, move slower, and cant dig until you get to the surface and refuel. You need to be in hardcore difficulty to have it kill you when you run out of fuel.
The differences I noticed in hardcore difficulty and the standard difficulty was how fast your fuel goes down (about 2 times faster). That's fine and all, because it's the hardcore difficulty, but it's annoying when I have to deal with that just because I wanted to die when I run out of fuel. It'd be nice to have something in the middle of those two, where I wouldn't have to choose between easy mode and "how do I fix this fuel leak" mode.

Another small problem I had with it is the user interface. It looks like it was designed for console controllers (which it was, given the message telling me it works better with console controllers at startup) and it makes it difficult to use on a computer.

I heard the multiplayer was couch multiplayer, which makes sense because the game was originally a console game, but being able to play online would be a nice addition in the future. Right now I have no real problem with that because I wouldn't recommend this game to them over the original Motherload.

Don't get me wrong though, I still like parts of the game. While the downsides make me glad I bought it on sale, the good parts of the game still make me glad I bought it.
I liked the upgrade in graphics and user interface. Not just the higher resolution textures, which are really nice looking, but also the new fuel, hull, and container capacity bars.
I also like how fuel isn't used when moving above ground, which was really annoying in the original motherload.
The automatic fueling and selling is also nice. I never bought $5 worth of gas rather than filling it up all the way in the original game, unless it was by accident.

So that's what I think of the game so far. I wouldn't normally recommend it until later in the game's development (if they do change some of the things I mentioned), but I would recommend it to anyone who is a big fan of the original Motherload.
