If you can do local 4 person co-op then I can't see why online multi isn't an option. I know it's expensive and time consuming but now a days local co-op doesn't do it unless you're selling a console game.
We agree that local co-op is great for a console. Super Motherload was originally targeted at the Nintendo Wii four years ago and it's always evolved with being a console game in mind. When we decided to make Super Motherload available on Steam, local co-op was already in the game. It's been integrated as part of the game's design since the beginning of development.
We realize that network multiplayer is a very desired feature, however it's considerably more complex to provide to you than something that's already done and has been developed as integral to the game over years.
Aside from the technical challenges of implementing network multiplayer, there are also design challenges. The game is tuned for a certain balance and gameplay experience that assumes all players are on the screen at the same time.
Like some bad movies, some ideas sound great until they come to life and then you realize how awful they really were. If we deliver a network multiplayer experience in the future, we want to bring with it a high standard of technical and gameplay quality.
What he said was: We dont care about pc just like nobody else does and we "did" this for pc because we wanted extra cash.
Personaly this kinda thing makes me mad. Not just this mp missing but whole thing. They showed us almost year ago in greenlight that game was allmost done. Then they said its coming after new playstation and then they delayed it even more. And now after year they give us alpha. I was probably in first ones that got game when it was finaly out...and i have to say sad how its just like Motherload(free) but wrapped in candypaper and full of holes. This is exact reason i dont pay full price of game even its 10€. Dont get me wrong i understand its alpha, but its just dirty habit in gaming industry these days to leave games half way done as console game and after 1 month of patching you leave it dying. Sorry man thats just how it is.
Umm... No... I'm almost certain that's not the message he was trying to get across there... Are we reading the same post?
And to answer The Raven's question properly, I don't believe that was what he was saying, no. It sounds like implementing network co-op is just something that isn't going to work in this game, given that the current infrastructure hasn't been designed with it in mind. What Bio-Mech was saying about the possibility of doing it in the future is more to do with future releases. So basically, if any game of theirs is going to have network co-op, they'd prefer it to be in the development process from the beginning.
If online multiplayer is a must for you to buy this title then keep looking for something else.
So... the answer to the original question would be.... NO .
...right?
If you put a game on the PC you should expect people to ask for online multiplayer.
Since there isn't any I might as well play the free flash game version fo this.
You have to remember that online multiplayer is a must have for a lot of games. You have a co-op game..but it's local only...well me and my friends aren't going to huddle around my PC to play this. We'll want to each have a copy and play across the internet.
I personally don't scream to the high heavens that you 100% must and if you don't you'll die in a grease fire. I'm just here to say that I'm not going to buy this because of this lack of online multi and that I'm obviously not the only one.
That's all.
Isn't it possible to make the same co-op but just online? Like you see the same screen and can't get off the screen like the normal co-op.
