I am using an Alienware X17 (gen1) and have all current drivers installed.
Instant crash to desktop as others have described.
Should this be available to PC Steam users, if you havent tested it on PC machines?

No hostility, just an honest question. It seems to be happening frequently, and is an instant-crash bug that would have been caught by running it on a PC the first time.

Also: if you need a dumpfile i think i can remember how to do that :)

Thank you bio mech and saint wacko, can't wait to play :)!
Glad to see I'm not the only one having the game crash on me.

Just bought it 5 mins ago

Also tried your suggested solution

And still nothing

Location of program files on my machine:
  • EXE File -------- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Super Motherload\supermotherload.exe
  • SAVE File ------ C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\XGen Studios, Inc\Super Motherload\savedata\common\preferences
  • -------------------------------------
  • NonExistant --- C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\XGen Studios, Inc\Super Motherload\config.ini

I built the correct ini file and directory by hand, ill test it now....

Nope.

ran the EXE file straight from the Steam folder, i get a black screen instead of a desktop crash now.

the only way out is an ALT+F4 or reboot.

all drivers are as current as possible for this machine.

I have no problems running any other OpenGL software.

(Also: the card i have is a hacked together DELL monstrosity that has DELL's proprietary crapware. It identifies as a 9400, but its a 9400m and DELL refuses to update their proprietary drivers, and has locked the card down to prevent user driver updates)

Either way, this is the only OpenGL game i have issues with (i buy all the Humble Indie Bundles ever, and they all run fine)

I have an Intel Integrated GPU too, but even when I run with my NVidia discrete GPU it won't launch.
EDIT: It works fine now!

How do you edit Reddd? I don't know how to do it. I'm not familiar with this kind of procedure.

123flashover Feb 26, 2014 @ 10:30pm
I've made all my updates but it still doesn't work. I tried to reinstall the game for sure but nothing changed.
Vibro Feb 26, 2014 @ 10:59pm
FYI I have a laptop with both an intel integrated and an NVIDIA, by forcing the launcer to use the NVIDIA card I was able to get it to load with no problems.

I am a big fan of Motherload and the fact the game does not like integrated Intel GPU sux as I really wanted to play this on my laptop. I have tried creating the ini file (after creating the proper directory) and launching the exe file directly (instead of the launcher) and I get a "Super Motherload (GL)" window where I get a picture of what looks like a blue folder with an arrow to a computer of some sort (it is there for a split second) and then I just get a "stopped working" dialog box. The OS does not crash, but I cannot start the game. :tdealwithit:
