Well now what do I do?

So I blew up the 2nd power field generator to the south of the thingy tree, but now I can't get back across the water to return to the tree. Well, I can actually, I found the secret passage under the water to the east, but that just gets me across to a small dead-end area with nothing in it except some enemies. I can't find out what I need to do to continue, if it is even possible to continue at all and I didn't just ruin the entire game when I let Andrea blow up the dam so we could cross the river.

If you drained the lake and fought the generator, there should now be a passage to the west - look around near the blown-up dam and try to get to the screen west of there.

(The waterfall passage is for people who used the other method to drain the lake).
