October 30th. In memory of Alec Holowka

Today, on the 30th of October, 2019, Alec Holowka, who contributed to the soundtrack of “Crayon Physics Deluxe,” could have turned 36. Rest in peace, dear Alec. You are mourned and remembered, and your creative genius is profoundly admired.

I’d like to share some links that concern Alec’s work. I’ve made similar posts in the community hubs of other games he either co-created or contributed music to (“Aquaria,” “Night in the Woods,” “TowerFall: Ascension,” and “Offspring Fling”), in case anyone is interested (various interviews and articles are mainly linked in the respective posts about the first two games listed, which Alec co-designed).

Oh my god. I heard about the GG drama and even heard this guy's name during it all way back then but I had no idea he had anything to do with this game or Aquaria. I love both games so much. I listened to Aquaria's soundtrack 10 times. I featured a track from this game on my blog in 2010. I'm more angry than ever before, if so.

I was a little harsh on the game itself in that link, but I am eager to try it out on SteamDeck soon with a stylus, which is what led me here. I see it has a "Tablet mode" in the options, which is exciting.

I originally played this game on my old tablet where it came preinstalled. That tablet is long dead, but I still remembered this game because of the music. Came across this today. Very unfortunate news. Rest in peace, Alec.
