So can I only play Chalice with the cookie?

So I beat all the bosses in the DLC and was hoping that Chalice would be chooseable when you pick your game but she doesn't appear to be. Is there some other way to unlock her or is the only way to play by using the cookie charm?

Nope. Kinda sucks but then again she's still dead so makes sense.

It's like that to balance out her abilities. By default she is "worth" like two charms anyways. She gets the smoke bomb ability (Her roll) as well as the double jump. The only downside she has moveset-wise is that she has to dash to parry and can't jump parry (which is really inconvenient imo).

She also has an extra heart from the start which is something Cuphead needs a charm slot for.

Really? I thought the opening dialogue was pretty clear about the entire goal of the DLC being to bring her back permanently?

I personally interpreted it as "beat the DLC to unlock Chalice as a fully playable character".

Oh well. Hopefully there will be a character swap mod to fix this.

Depends on the boss. Dash parry can come in super handy, or be a nightmare.
