DLC difficulty compared to base game?
Me & my SO enjoyed playing the first couple of the main game's areas together, but I ended up playing most of the third area by myself, as I'm much more a fan of this genre than them, so they weren't having fun with the higher difficulty bosses of the late game.

Because of that, I'm wondering what everyone's opinions are on the difficulty of the DLC as compared to the main game, as it's hard to gauge from footage alone whether we might enjoy co-oping it or if I should just play it solo.

I'm also wondering how prevalent RNG-platform bosses like the bee queen and the dragon are, as well as run-&-gun levels, as those were ultimately what ruined the co-op experience for us.

The DLC assumes that you have beaten the base game, since it's a natural evolution from the third isle's difficulty.

Maybe they should have made a full sequel at this point, and not a DLC for a game released such a long time ago. I feel that I need to start the game from the beginning to regain the skills lost in time.

That would've taken a decade, it took them multiple years to get 6 bosses let alone a whole sequel, expecting a sequel is like asking we never see anything from them until all of us have died of old age.

The difficulty was scaled up from isle iii, and the addition of chalice as a playable character makes the player(if he wants to play chalice) learn new mechanics and moves which at first i had a hard time getting used too but learned them quickly

At first I thought it was harder but it actually was easier for me.

By the way I only play on regular.

You don't; trust me. Try doing all of The King's Leap challenges—they involve completing some special bosses without any shooting. That alone should quickly bring back your aptitude (not to mention that Ms. Chalice has new movements, so you would have to learn how to play as her and not Cuphead anyway).

i dunno, some fights are just entirely overtuned. Esther Winchester for one. That's just STUPID.

They went easy on us with that one though. I'm surprised they let us heal between fights in the gauntlet.

I thought the same thing about the gauntlet lol; would've been really interesting if damage carried over. But in any case, it's a nice way to get back some muscle memory (and, in my case, test out keyboard control mappings because mine got reset since the last time I played years ago).

the difficulty of dlc is harder in general. winchester and secret boss are extremely hard but there are still some easy fights.

What? The secret boss is extremely easy, Isle 1 easy. Just hide under the angel, shooting the devil with a guided weapon, and smoke bomb through the laser. Jump over the fireballs from the devil also.

If you haven't noticed, the angel and the devil (as well as the laser) change depending on the direction you are looking at, so you just have to never turn your character and always face the same direction. [/quote]

Only stage that took me more than 2 tries was the cow airplane stage. Even Baker on beat on 1st try. The game is easy though for me because I grew up in the era of stuff like Zelda2, contra. Ect.

It's closer to the mid to late bosses of the game in terms of challenge

Only the secret boss and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid cow was hard but just because all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that she throws, the rest of bosses are really easy tbh

If we judge the bosses based on how difficult they are to S-rank, I'd say the DLC bosses are appropriately harder than almost anything in the base game. Saltbaker, Esther Winchester, Howling Aces and Mortimer Freeze all felt equal to or more difficult than Wally Warbles or Dr Kahl's Robot. Moonshine Mob was about equal to Rumor Honeybottoms. Glumstone the Giant was the easiest one but had a pretty hectic first phase, so he is probably about equal with the rest of Isle 3.
