Ps4 controller keeps turning on and off?
My Dualshock 4 is acting up while playing the game. It'll turn on and off at unpredictable moments and it ends up ruining any chance at winning. Is there a fix for this or is it my controller? I've tried multiple usb ports, cables, controllers and they all do the same thing, if not more often. It makes the game almost unplayable.

Are you using ds4
HG|Bossu Apr 17, 2018 @ 12:58pm
Never use ds4. Steam is already compatible with PS4 controllers.

No, I'm not using ds4windows. But my Dualshock 4 controller keeps turning on and off anyways. Not sure why.

Unless you're talking about not using a Dualshock 4 controller, in which case, I don't have another controller to use.

Open Steam ( duh.)
Click on "Steam" on the top-left corner
Click on "Settings"
Click on "Controller"
Click on "General Controller settings"
Set Controller shutdown time to "Never" and mark the "PS4 Configuration Support" Box

YOU'RE WELCOME.

It stopped the constant turning off and on, but now player 2 keeps joining in. I'm not sure if it's counting my keyboard or if it's counting another controller even though I'm only using one. I'm not using ds4windows so am I doing something else wrong?

OK, I'm dumb. Ds4windows was running in the background. But after turning it off, my controller will work for a minute or two without any issues and then it turns off and on even more than before making it even more unplayable. I really must be doing something wrong because I don't know what's causing any of this.

Do you have any other PC ? Try plugging the controller on it ( Without DS4Windows Installed ) and Set it up for Steam ( Install Steam if it isn't installed on the machine you'll be using ), after that, Download Cuphead and test it, if it doesn't work or if you don't have any other computer, try Opening Steam in Big Picture Mode and try to open Cuphead from there. BTW, use the Controller to navigate for a while, if it stops even in Big Picture mode, then the controller may be the problem

dunno if its related but i had a similar problem when i fist got my ds4, it was caused by the usb cable. went to gamestop and they gave me a cable they said was for the ds4, it fixed the problem even tho the cable looked pretty much the same as the one i had. ima buy this game now and try the ds4, hope it works as its the only controller i got.

So playing it on big picture fixed the issue for about 10 minutes. I was going through a level and I got hit. Then issue start again like before. I've already tried multiple wires and only 2 of them work. Both still only work for a little, but soon start to make the controller bug out. I don't have another PC and I have 2 ds4 controllers. Both still have the same result.

odd, does it work ok in other games? the non ds4 cable i had worked aswell, but it would turn the controller off and on sporadically. really annoying.

been playing this game for some hours now and the controller works for me, all the buttons functional except left on the d pad for some reason.. so i have to use the analogue stick. anyone had a problem like that?

Now that I've tried it, it does also seem to have the same issue for other games. Maybe it's the wires, but I don't have other wires that work. The controllers work fine on PS4.

Well, Cuphead was released only for Xbox and PC, then maybe a PS4 Controller Won't be recognized...
When you plug you controller in, does it recognizes it as "Generic USB Joystick" By Windows ?

Windows recognizes it as "Wireless Controller". Is that an issue? Or does that still work?
