The big laser may force you into dangerous situations by the end of it, and the damage output isn't **that** impressive. You can make up for it by running into the enemies' faces with the invincibility duration. The third one has extremely high damage but is so absurdly difficulty to use that the risk far outweights the reward.
It is enough to beat, say, the 2nd phase of the Devil in one shot, but since you can't move, you'll get hit for sure.
Also if you keep the ghost on screen long enough, it leaves a pink heart behind that you can parry. It doesn't do anything though.
I think the invincibility is the least worst ultimate super, since it doesn't leave you in a situation where you end up unable to dodge incoming damage (with the mega beam, you can end up falling down a ledge or being hit as you finish the move).
Also, 1-level supers sometimes do more damage than max level ones. For example the spread shot on the Devils big head forms, you can get all 8 arrows to hit, and it does tremendous damage and is less risky to use there than any of the max level supers.
