- Cuphead doesn't have a live system, and you don't have to play the entire game again when you game over, you start right back at the boss
- You die in one hit in Contra, in Cuphead you have at least three hitpoints, up to five with a special
- Bullets are tiny in Contra and difficult to see coming (also blend in with the background), attacks are pretty well telegraphed in Cuphead
- No way to revive your friends in Contra instantly, unlike in Cuphead
- The run and gun sections can be skipped in Cuphead
Cuphead is still difficult, but not as difficult as Contra imo.
Go play contra on NES again.
this is close to how games *should be* but its not the most difficult game ever thats for sure.
the game is actually quite easy, I play Cuphead with my 7 year old and she has cleared some of the first Isle bosses, even managing to stay alive through Hilda Berg on regular.
if my 7 year old can manage Isle 1, its not that hard
Unless they're Touhou devotees, that is. Lol.
Play these.
Batman - NES
1943 - NES
Abadox - NES
Battletoads - NES
Streets of Rage 2 or 3 on hardest - Genesis
Demon's Crest - SNES
Actraiser 2 - SNES
Megaman X6 - Ps1
R-Type 3 - SNES
Gradius 3 Arcade mode - SNES
Super Ghouls N Ghost - SNES
Castlevania Chronicles - PS1
Castlevania Rebirth Hard setting - Wiiware
All of these start out easy but become devistating hard later in game.
ive played quite a few of those games back in the days.
i did beat demon crest megaman x6 + ghouls n ghost+ ghost n goblins and made it to the 11th stage in battletoads, but kept getting games over at that point...
There is however a game at steam that are far harder than most likely all of the games listed above by far. its called wings of VII. the normal difficulty in that game is harder than battletoads TBH and makes supermeat boy and the end is nigh look like a kindergarten game..
Wings of vii starts of easy aswell, at first you think its difficulty spikes, but the whole game is a huge difficulty spike.
Then again, I don't really do well in fast reflex-based games. Turn based is more my style. =]
Ice cream break then we try again!
