Player 2 keeps joining

I do not have DS4Windows and every solution i find envolves DS4Windows. I've gotten it to work a few times but that seems to be by luck and i dont know how to permanently fix it.

1. Press any button on title screen with a controller.
2. Now go through menu as usual and you're good to go.

no that doesn't work it still sometimes lets player 2 join. But, i think i did find the answer anyways I just have to close out steam while cuphead is starting up.

just use ds4windows and make sure you enable dinput for this game with it. some games like this and gears of war 4 require dinput with ds4windows.

i tried to use ds4windows but it kept making me try to use a driver updater that i had to pay for and id rather not pay for something i can already do for free.

Scratch the scratch i have found the solution. Open big picture mode open the game and then close steam while cuphead is loading up

I think I found a better solutuion. I'm using a PS4 controller though. Go into Big Picture mode and disable PS4 controller support. I think this works because the game already has PS4 controller support.

What means "close steam"? If you close steam, game closes too.

For me when i open in big picture and then open the game i can close the steam client and the game still runs for me.

I'll copy+paste a solution I said on another post:

Got it fixed for my PS4 controller.
1) Launch the game
2) Press the Steam guide button
3) Go to controller options and disable support for non-steam controller.

This stops the spawning of P2. Don't know what effect it has if a real P2 (another controller) was to join. Hope this helps!

Btw, I don't use any software for my PS4 controller. Just Steam.
