Cuphead doesn't work when purchasing from Microsoft store?
Okay so here's my problem. I bought a digital copy of Cuphead from the Microsoft store and every time I attempt to run the game it simply brings up a window with the usual Cuphead logo and then almost immediately shuts down. I have no idea what I should do and it is extremely infuriating to know that this game would run if I hadn't bought it on the Microsoft store. Microsoft, get your ♥♥♥♥ together XD!!!

Wow I thought you were supposed to be more helpful Meeseeks XD! So you're idea of a solution to my problem to run a 20 dollar game that I cannot refund is to buy the game on another site and spend another 20 dollars? Pure genius my friend, pure genius lol

How do you even know that?
There are also other threads in these forum where people struggled with getting the game to run, you might want to look around. Also doesn't Microsoft promote this "buy-it-once, play-it-anywhere"-thing? So... if you happen to own an Xbox, try it on there ~
Also you might want to get into contact with the Microsoft customer support, if the threads on here are not useful to you - that's what these people are there for.

Well my doubtful friend I know it because for a period of time I actually owned it through different means because I could find no demo :P. Also I don't have an Xbox, also Microsoft support was not very supportive this time around, also I'm sorry if I seem pissy I've just had a long week and I'm a very sarcastic person. I appreciate you trying to help! I actually really do

So, nonetheless different "outlets" ( >.> ) may give you different versions of the game at any given point in time.

Maybe something on your system changed since you were able to play it.
Anyway, skimming over various threads, there are 3 common ways to get this fixed.
Here is a selection of threads I found, feel free to look around yourself if this doesn't help.

According to

uninstalling and reinstalling might fix it - but I doubt that since you don't have the Steam version, but you can try anyway

using Win 8 compatibility mode may help you (set this with the actual .exe file, you can try to check the box to run it as admin too)

different overlays like for video capturing or some gpu/cpu - monitoring overlays might interfere and cause crashes

I hope your week will get better ~

The problem with the microsoft store version of Cuphead is that all the useful information that could help indicate what the problem really is, is hidden away behind folder to which most of us aren't supposed to have access to :(
