Why am I not surprised?
Yeah, shut up.
I was concerned with the lack of actual stages, too. It looks amazing and totally nails the artistic flair it's shooting for...and I would have killed for a game like this with say, 16 proper stages (like Mega Man games) and bosses at the end. Either that or some kind of platformer like Mario World would have made this game perfect.
Meanwhile, everyone else is just gushing about OH IT'S SO PRETTY.
I just watched the game on YouTube. The whole thing is 90 minutes, and it's mainly boss fights, which for me is a turn off from buying it. Maybe if they make a sequel it will have more levels, and less emphasis on boss fighting.
Yeah, shut up. Just reading through the forums, anyone with a second grade reading skill (not you clearly) can see that a lot of people really like the difficulty. In fact, it's the only reason a lot of people bought the game.
Now, before you say "hey, I have a third grade reading skill, not second!", let me give you proof that you can't read. The game isn't 90 minutes long. It's at least 3 hours long, and that's for the people that are amazing at the game.
Also, the whole POINT of the game is the bosses. You saying "gosh I wish it was more level based" is basically saying "i wish the game was a completely different game". And as for your wish for the sequel? Why would the devs change up their whole game? That's like wishing that Witcher 4 would be an RTS.
Good review: This game is bad because of (exaomples) "too reliant on rng", "input lag", "unskippable long cutscenes", "content locked behind microtransactions". (Objective)
Guess which of those are you.
As for length, it's usually never static in any game. Not like if world 1 took 2 hours then world 2 will also take 2 hours and the whole game is 5 worlds so it's a total of 10 hours. The more you progress the more stuff there is to do and the harder it gets. Example, world 1 took 90 mins for me. I'm 8+ hours in, am on world 3, and I'm still not done with 3 stages on it. Going by your logic, I should've been done with world 3 about 4.5 hours in. This isn't the case.
And there are a few more than "two" firing types. You can use two at a time, but there are definitely more than two.
I played the game over a weekend, didn't run in any major bugs (which is better than I could say about a bunch of AAA games), found myself laughing when I died and overall didn't feel any of the artificial difficulty you're talking about... Heck! Those blades you mentioned move at pretty predictable patterns and a single bomb breaks the walls, don't blame the game if you're bad at exploring your options...
10/10 would buy again.
I do wish the game was something entirely different, actually. They advertise it on the front page as a run and gun, but it's a boss fight simlator. Other similar games have that on their store page.
The forums are filled with people complaining about it's artificial difficulty. And sorry, the video I saw with the game in it's entirity was 90 minutes, and the guy wasn't amazing. It was his first playthrough.
I know it's the internet, and all, but you really should try to be a little more polite.
Anywho, if the game isn't what you want it to be, then just don't buy it. Why are you bashing the game because it's not what you like? It never claimed to bea run and gun game lmao. If you had bothered to read even a second (i know its hard for you, but just stay with me here), you would see that Cuphead advertises itself as heavily boss-focused. IT'S LITERALLY RIGHT THERE DUDE!
Oh, and for every person complaining about difficulty, there are about 3 that praise it soooo
