Why the hell do you care if people play on easy mode? If the DEVELOPERS want to make an easy mode for more people, then they both have a completed game AND a bigger pay check.
Changing their dream to allow more people who aren't as skilled as you are is alright.
If people refuse to learn how to play challenging games, less and less challenging games are made.
That is the quick answer, at least.
Kids younger than these people used to play megaman and ghosts n' goblins for gosh sake
Keeping the bar high for the sake of keeping the bar high can be just as bad. I wouldn't recommend making Dark Souls easier since that's one of the main drawing points of the game. Cuphead though is drawing a lot of eyes just from the visual and audio direction alone. The game difficulty can be toned down while still keeping what makes the game great, great.
This game shouldn't turn into a pissing contest of skill.
Actually dark souls wasn't designed to be hard. It isn't hard either.
If anything, I suppose that is just one of the better examples of how far the bar has fallen.
I care because people are demanding a mode. Meanwhile everyone else that can learn from the game make progress and beat it.
You think that books should have simpler words to accomadate people with low vocabularies?
How would you feel if those same people started demanding that books be written by 6 year olds instead? Get the picture?
It will eventually lead to picture books for all.
Don't like the words? Read a different book.
Don't like the difficulty? Refund and play a different game or watch a stream.
Same principle.
As others have said I care because it lowers the overall bar.
Edit: By your logic games like Touhou should also be toned down in difficulty just because people like the art style.
No one is saying to make it easier et al. If you honestly couldn't stop yourself from clicking an extra option then you're a hypocrite.
I disagree. I had no notions of the difficulty going into the game.
And you say that there is "no need to dumb down the game for anyone", I already went over how people would like to play the game and not just watch it. That's a reason right there, you may not like it but it's still a reason.
Ultimately, it's up to the developers to decide if there's going to be an easier mode to the game. But all this outrage at the mere thought of an easier mode is ridiculous. The previous mode will still exist. I believe it's all outrage at the possibility that you might lose elitist bragging rights on a game.
If the developers themselves come out and say "we want Cuphead to be difficult," then I'd sure as hell drop my case. But if these guys want their game to be accessible to more, adding an extra HP feature is just an easy fix.
They are asking for an OPTION to give the cuphead more hit points. Did you lose sight of the actual point they were making because of your bias? Oh dear. Oh me. Oh my. Please, go back to typing about how the harder a game is the better it is. You must like really spicy hot sauce too. I'm so impressed right now.
Or this.
People wanted a cake walk and actually find out that skill is involved and then proceed to ♥♥♥♥♥.
I understand that the game is difficult, but that was the intention.
You're deluding yourself, if people want to brag then they can show that they beat it on hard mode. Also, you're completely missing the point, it never was about bragging rights but about having one of the few hard games dumbed down because cry babies can't be bothered to learn the mechanics and boss patterns.
