Easily Implemented "Easy Mode"
I love a challenge in a videogame, and holy♥♥♥♥♥♥does Cuphead deliver. However, I completely understand that not everyone is able to complete games like this, yet still want to experience the beautiful art and music of the game. Many players are asking for an "easy mode."

Solution? Easy Mode gives 6 HP.
Just double the HP, yall. One of the hardest aspects of Cuphead is that it's unforgiving with it's (default) 3HP. Give em more health, they're able to make more mistakes. Keep it alongside Simple and Normal mode and boom, everyone's happy.

Are you a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shareholder in the company?

Why the hell do you care? The game was made the way the DEVELOPERS wanted it to. At the end of the day having what they dreamed of AND having a game that earns them a check is desireable.
Changing their dream to cater towards a miniority that can't grasp strategy is absurd.
Are you a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ professional gamer?

Why the hell do you care if people play on easy mode? If the DEVELOPERS want to make an easy mode for more people, then they both have a completed game AND a bigger pay check.
Changing their dream to allow more people who aren't as skilled as you are is alright.

I see no inherent benefit in having an easy mode. Fight me.

A lot of vitriol against those desiring an easy mode to the game, but I don't see the harm in such a game difficulty mode so long as the achievements reflect which mode you beat the game on.

A lot of people want to experience the game, not just watch someone else experience it. This game especially given the amazing detail and effort that went into the visuals and music. If the developers decide to extend their game to allow less-skilled players to experience their game I don't see the harm in it.
The harm is that it drives the bar down.
If people refuse to learn how to play challenging games, less and less challenging games are made.

That is the quick answer, at least.
Kids younger than these people used to play megaman and ghosts n' goblins for gosh sake

Keeping the bar high for the sake of keeping the bar high can be just as bad. I wouldn't recommend making Dark Souls easier since that's one of the main drawing points of the game. Cuphead though is drawing a lot of eyes just from the visual and audio direction alone. The game difficulty can be toned down while still keeping what makes the game great, great.

This game shouldn't turn into a pissing contest of skill.

Actually dark souls wasn't designed to be hard. It isn't hard either.
If anything, I suppose that is just one of the better examples of how far the bar has fallen.

I care because people are demanding a mode. Meanwhile everyone else that can learn from the game make progress and beat it.

You think that books should have simpler words to accomadate people with low vocabularies?
How would you feel if those same people started demanding that books be written by 6 year olds instead? Get the picture?
It will eventually lead to picture books for all.
Don't like the words? Read a different book.
Don't like the difficulty? Refund and play a different game or watch a stream.
Same principle.
As others have said I care because it lowers the overall bar.

And one of Cupheads draw points is its difficulty, something taht visuals have no influence over. If somebody sucks so much that they can't beat the bosses then ♥♥♥♥ em, they can use youtube to see further in, no need to dumb down the game for anyone.

Edit: By your logic games like Touhou should also be toned down in difficulty just because people like the art style.

No one is saying to make it easier et al. If you honestly couldn't stop yourself from clicking an extra option then you're a hypocrite.

I disagree. I had no notions of the difficulty going into the game.

And you say that there is "no need to dumb down the game for anyone", I already went over how people would like to play the game and not just watch it. That's a reason right there, you may not like it but it's still a reason.

Ultimately, it's up to the developers to decide if there's going to be an easier mode to the game. But all this outrage at the mere thought of an easier mode is ridiculous. The previous mode will still exist. I believe it's all outrage at the possibility that you might lose elitist bragging rights on a game.
I have a better solution, just don't buy the game if it's going to be too difficult because people refuse to just improve.

I definitely understand that comparison, but both mediums are still surprisingly fluid, especially with videogames having potential for post release patches. If something garners enough attention outside of the intended demographic, the creators will cater to those needs in many situations if they want to. Hell, even books and old plays get adaptations to target a different audience.

If the developers themselves come out and say "we want Cuphead to be difficult," then I'd sure as hell drop my case. But if these guys want their game to be accessible to more, adding an extra HP feature is just an easy fix.

They are asking for an OPTION to give the cuphead more hit points. Did you lose sight of the actual point they were making because of your bias? Oh dear. Oh me. Oh my. Please, go back to typing about how the harder a game is the better it is. You must like really spicy hot sauce too. I'm so impressed right now.

Or this.

People wanted a cake walk and actually find out that skill is involved and then proceed to ♥♥♥♥♥.

I understand that the game is difficult, but that was the intention.

"Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles." Taken directly from the Cuphead store page. "Classic run and gun" is a reference to the difficulty, not our problem if you're not familiar with the term.

You're deluding yourself, if people want to brag then they can show that they beat it on hard mode. Also, you're completely missing the point, it never was about bragging rights but about having one of the few hard games dumbed down because cry babies can't be bothered to learn the mechanics and boss patterns.
