Might as well remove it entirely in the next update.
The only benifit is since the bosses are multiphase, running through on simple can give you a view to practice all of the phases while if just Regular if you aren't so great you might not even get beyond the first phase.
It's a great lesson to play the game the way it was intended
Beat that and get motivated to improve and see the actual ending.
There were countless games especially during the 16-bit era that allowed you to play and beat the game on many difficuly settings.
It's just laziness at this point to not include it.
SOme of those games even gave you cheats to help you beat the hardest setting like Gradius 3.
gouls n' ghosts forced you to play the game twice, One of the fatal fury (I think) games just forced you all the way to the begginning if you played on easy all the way to the final boss. not to mention more humorous stuff like how Ninja Gaiden Black forced you to wear a pink ribbon if you played on easy, Gene from God hand moking you if you pick the difficulty, and Unlocking easy mode in DMC3 if you die three times in a row. it's not hurting anyone if it's there, just a good thing to see that the devs had fun making the game.
