Apostrophes in text appear as squares

Not the biggest deal in the world, but takes away from the 30s asthetic. I've noticed that apostrophes in some text appears as a square, as a missing character in a font on a website might. This is after going up to a location and pressing A to see what the challenge is. One of the first couple encounters once you are on the overworld map demonstrates this. I'd assume it isn't just me, but if it is, please let me know. I'd think all the text would be handled by the game code and be independant of my system though.

While I didn't think that would be the problem, I tried that to be sure, and there was no issue with the integrity. Apostrophes are common to need to be encoded or escaped correctly in certain languages. I feel like it is probably a bug that could be fixed by modifying a single line of the code slightly. But if no one else is seeing it, that would be really weird.

I actually misremembered exactly where it is. It is during the screen after failing a level, where you see a quote. I just went to one and saw a proper apostrophe, though it was in a different place and I can't remember where I saw that now. Next time I see it I'll get a screenshot.

As mentioned in my edit, I just saw one with a proper apostrophe, and can't remember where I saw the square, but I know it was a different place. If I see it again I'll post a screen, if I dont, well then, problem gone?

Just so you feel like you aren't going crazy, I saw the exact same thing. I think it's just simply a typographical oversight.

Happened to me after failing "Botanic Panic" (Normal). Quote is "I[]m lean, mean, and full of beta-carotene."

Yes, that's it! I couldn't remember where and kinda forgot about it as I haven't seen it again. Should be an easy fix on their part though. I'm glad someone else saw it, makes me feel better about my PC and my brain.

Pretty sure it is a display bug. The square is typically shown when a character is used that isn't available in that font or character set. In some operating systems for example, you'll see squares rather than Japanese text, unless you install a Japanese language pack.

It could also be encoding, like for example the text reader is made to read UTF-8 encoded text, which is pretty common, but when typing it they could have used an extended character set that contained character codes beyond the UTF-8 range, and the UTF-8 reader doesn't know what it is. You might get something like this if you try to copy and paste something from a fancy document editor into a plain text editor.
