What controllers are working?

Ok, DirectInput and USB controllers aren't working fully with the game. That's been established. Is ANYONE using a controller, without using joytokey successfully? If so, what controllers are you using?

DualShock 4 (PS4) working just fine here as well, got two running, corded, for co-op.

Xbox One confirmed for working through USB.

PS4 controller seems to work natively, without DS4Windows or Steam's own support. There is a small cosmetical bug though: for some reason, the game refers PS4 buttons with words (CROSS, TRIANGLE..) and that gets partly over the word next to it.

How has that been established? It appears it's just you. I'm using a 360 controller, had no issues

8BitDo SNES controller did not work properly.

USB Rock Candy XBox360 controller is currently working perfectly for me. There was no Windows 10 driver for that specific controller, so I went into Device Manager and forced it to use the "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows Version: 10.0.15063.0" driver.

Am using a ZD V Wireless controller, seems to work just fine. Will test my Logitech F310 later.

A wireless ps4 controller, and wired Xbox One controller work equally well for me.

Ok, good! Thank you for your support. I was using old USB controllers and a SNES controller to a USB, and it borks the game completely. I even used joy2key, and that works for player 1, but not player 2.
