And any pinkish projectile is a parry-able thing.
Objects inside the circle only hurt you if you decide to *not* press the parry button before coming into contact with said object. There's nothing to it. Parrying is easy.
The parry slap, which I love, goes against most standard conventions of parrying/reflecting/staggering in games. Instead of highlighting all of the unblockable attacks (i.e. red-glowing weapons, huge wind-ups, grabs, etc.) like most games, this game instead decides to highlight everything that you CAN parry. So, a lot of the trouble probably just comes from our usual conditioning.
It seems they're supposed to be "pink" themed projectiles, but the game is so damn gorgeous and colorful that they can really be hard to spot, or not necessarily the same shade of pink. The foolproof way to find out is to just take a couple runs with the P. Sugar charm (you have to buy the smoke bomb first) to see what you can parry.
As an example, the weirdest one I found was while fighting Beppi the Clown when I parried the small nose on the rollercoaster that shows up in several stages of his fight.
Hope this helps.
