No audio?

I'm getting no audio from the game at all, other games work fine, system sounds are fine, but this game is SILENT. Any idea how to fix? I kinda want to listen to the soundtrack in-game.

Headset, speakers, with controller, without controller, uninstall, reinstall, reboot.... nothing works.

Yeah I went for the refund, don't get me wrong the game looks amazing, but I want the audio to fully enjoy the game.

I had this problem. I refunded. I really wanted to play. I repurchased. Here's how I got sound:
I disconnected my headset (kraken 7.1 usb). I installed the game. I turned on my speakers. Boom sound. While the game was running, I plugged in my headset again. Game froze up. No sound after restarting. Unplugged headset, still no sound. Reboot, still no sound. Looked at my settings, and they were on Razer Surround Speakers. I changed it to native sound (Realtek), and Cuphead has sound again. So I just have to play through my speakers. Until they patch it, USB headsets don't seem to work.

I was trying to play through normal speakers in the beginning :/

What kind of setup do you have? I haven't tried it yet, but it seems to me the culprit was the 7.1 system, because neither the headset or surround worked, but when I set it to default, it worked.

I was running it on my gaming laptop, MSI Dominator GT72 6QE. No external hardware attached. Just literally could not run it with sound, tried it with headphones, tried it with a headset, tried HDMI to the tv, played around with audio settings (even though other games worked perfectly)

Well I had a problem today about audio on Windows 10. No audio at all, but not only Cuphead, all steam games were having the same problem. Even games that doesn't belong to the steam acosystem (bnet: Diablo, Starcraft). This personally helped me:

Right click on the lower right corner when the speaker icon is -> audio troubleshooting.
Then try to disable all the sound enhancements. If you do not have that option in your speakers or headphones just skip that.
Then try to play an audio sample using the troubleshoot. I didn't hear any sound then I selected the option. Windows automatically tried to reinstall my audio controllers and asked me to restart my computer. Bingo! audio fixed!

If your playing on PC and connecting a controller through USB. That might be the issue. For me it was my PS4 controller, the PC will think that the controller is an audio output. Go to your sound settings and under Output, click on Manage sound devices and find your controller and disable it. It might come up as a headset microphone and under it, it will say wireless controller, disable that one. I hope this helps!
