How do you go by getting an S rank?

Yeah, I'm wondering if S-Rank isn't an overall ranking for completing the game perfectly. If it isn't an each level can get an S, there must be some hidden qualifier we haven't figured out yet.

there's only an achievement for getting 1 s rank

there are achieevements for getting a+ in all levels in each world though

New game plus doesn't exist, it's expert mode when you beat the game. Maybe it's that

You can only get S ranks on Expert mode...

1. Beat the game.
2. Go back to previous levels.
3. Play on Expert.
4. Git Gud.
5. Profit.
