If you learn how to control the dice then you can guarantee only fighting 3 bosses before King Dice. I recommend landing on 2, 5, and 7 by taking advantage of skip spaces. As long as you use the smoke dash, you can beat 5 and 7 really easy and 7 is a free win if you keep teleporting onto the other side. 5 summons a circle of things around you and you can just wait for them to close in a bit and teleport to the other side.
If you do that path and possibly retry until at least one of those squares gives you bonus health, that fight should be really easy.
So I guess you only really need it when you suck and don't learn.
