A lot of people get into a habit of restarting the game when they get hurt too early and restarts are completely invisible from the death counter, so it's not really an accurate comparison to compare death numbers purely. For all you know you're around the average if you restart less than they do.
I consider myself pretty good at video games (always play on hard, love the souls games) but Bullet Hells (or run & gun in this case) is the hardest genre. Games are in a whole different level as far as challenge goes. I try to avoid them because of this but I had to play this one because of the hype.
That said, it's on the easier side compared to other bullet hells, it could have been much worse.

And I'm staying far away from those Touhou games, they look impossible. I love hard games but this genre is just too frustrating even for me.
