Devil fight seems unfair
So I got to the Devil today and I really don't know. I mean, I got frusturated with all the other fights yeah, but it never really wanted to make me throw my controller, I wanted to keep doing it until I found a way to beat them.

But the first phase alone, his fire ability is completely random and can be used at the start at the fight and one of 3 can be cast at you, the circle I found to be the most annoying, there's his head that he turns into a spider that he tries to smash you with, theres the whole dragon thing he does with his entire body going across one side of the screen (Also random) and not to mention theres a tiny ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ running across the screen.

BUT ALSO, he smashes his hands together, the problem with these for me, I figured it required near frame perfect precision, however, it seems the amount of time he smashes his hands together, IS ALSO RANDOM. Making it impossible to predict when you should jump. Not only that, you can have a circle of fire balls and an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ running across the screen while he smashes his hands together AT THE SAME TIME.

im pretty sure the goat form (when he clap the hands) can be ducked

and like the all the other bosses it requires time, practice and lot of deaths... just keep up

Really? I'll have to try that.

Use lobber and roundabout as your two weapons and hold down shoot while switching weapons repeatedly. It makes you fire both weapons quicker for a lot of damage

He's the DEVIL he's supposed to be infuriatingly hard

Goat form - jump and at the peak dash, thanks to that you don't need to be precise.
Dragon - go either to far right (and smoke bomb your way out of there - it will give you a chance to not get damaged, because there is a bug on the right where the boss hitbox sits) or left.
Spider - just dash away.

Worst part is circle flame, because there is a chance for it to not go away for a long time. One time I had to dodge that and go away from the dragon. Complete bullcrap.

But other than that, the boss is actually easy, I would dare to say one of the easiest as far as you're carefull and know what you are doing.

Another thing you can do for the goat hand smash is jump in the air and ult (charged shot) stalls you in air briefly.

Lol Just beat this boss after like 10 attempts. Super easy, way easier then Dice man's gauntlet The across the screen attack just run to the end of the screen and do damage. How to handle the tiny ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ be more vigilant on him in the background. How I beat these bosses is doing maximum Damage and using the Boomerang shot. That way you'll have a shizz ton of Projectiles on screen too match their crap that way you're bound to hit anything destructible.

The spread out fire tracks your last location let the fire make the move then you react appropriately. The rotating fire starts on one side then goes to the other. so you are going to basicaly be playing jump rope.

Final section don't move until something comes at the platform you are on. The Bat bomb is a massive AOE so I recommend parrying it or get to a far platform. Anything enemy wise on the screen can be taken out with focused fire. SO I used the Boomerang and Lvl Ult.

10 attempts? Sounds legit.

The main problem for me with this fight was that my laptop decided to go into a stuttering fit for this fight and this fight only. The first phase would have still kicked my ass anyway but this didn't exactly help with things.

Honestly, after all the nasty third world bosses and then King Dice, I was expecting the Devil to be a lot harder!

I thought the only difficult third world bosses were The bee and the robot. I hard much more trouble with that damn dragon and most of the stuff in world 2.

I guess we had our own different experiences.. Think that's the point of most games, we all find different things more difficult then others.

Section 2 is way more tame. lol Learning all the moves to avoid for section one is tricky but you can do it.. I got a B for not using 6 supers.
Duomonium Oct 5, 2017 @ 11:08pm
the goat (hand smash) canbe ducked, the projectiles (fire attack) can be avoided, just back off as soon as he spins his pitchfork and see what attack is coming, the dragon attack is some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but i've found you can back to the far side away from where he comes to avoid it. it's a tough fight but i found the fight before much tougher.
The Highwayman Oct 5, 2017 @ 11:24pm
You can also jump over his goat attack and dash at your peak to avoid it.

The spider attack...I mean, how can you have gotten this far into the game without being able to dodge that?

The guys running across the screen take only one shot with any weapon to kill. Again I don't know how this can be giving you trouble if you're already at the Devil.

The fire attack, like people are saying, you can just back off when he's doing it to see which one he's doing. You can read the number of shapes:
4 shapes: Bouncy balls. You can parry the pink one before they even start moving.
5 shapes (4 at edges, pink at center): fireballs. Yeah, these are his best attack. They're tricky but not unfair. They always move toward you rotating the same way. Just stop shooting him for a second and focus. You can dodge these pretty easily.
6 shapes: Homing fireballs. Just jump over/teleport through these. They usually don't take a difficult formation but sometimes they're a little tricky.

If you're having trouble reading, I mean, remember that you can stop paying attention to certain things. You don't have to be paying attention to cuphead. You know what he's doing. You're the one controlling him. You only have to watch out for the guys running across the screen when you see one jump out from behind the chair. All of the devil's attacks are easily distinguishable from each other.

Honestly, the only unfair thing about this boss is the dragon/snake head thing that glitches sometimes.

you walked whole way to hell and still can't deal wth the devil?
He's an average boss.
His first form is the hardest, rest deserves to be among Isle 1 bosses.

1) take your usual peashooter for the fight
2) pay attention to background. you can see from which dicrection (and when, once you've learned it's timing) little imps will run at you. Stand underneath Devil and shoot upward. Shoot left or right when imps are on screen and you do not feel like jumping over them.
3) Goat clap. You need a great timing for this. If it's a first attack in a fight, you might be in trouble. But in all other occasions Jump as soon as his hands appears on screen and perform your EX attack. You'll hover in the air for the duration of this attack - not only it's enough time to safely survive the attack, you also deal damage to Devil!
4) Snake head. The hardest part is simps. Check the background and be ready to jump over imp if it is running in opposite direction of the snake. To avoid devil's snake form you just run from it to the side.
5) Bouncy balls. They ALWAYS fly away from you after spawning. Just stay in the middle and jump over if one come close. I hadn't have to jump more than 2 times during this attack. And keep shooting in the head.
6) Spider head. Now this is the moment when you should stop firing and just run from side to side. Dash away for safety, you have more than enough time after the head appears above.
7) 2 fiery attacks.... the hardest ones! Try to use smoke dash or +2 hearts. It's okay if you take a hit. But you should be somewhat unlucky to get a couple of this attacks in one fight.
