Goopy is also Charger.
Beppi is Spread all the way.
Pirate is probably the worst in the game for Chaser, because it keeps hitting the barrell instead of the Pirate, just use Charger.
Bee is Charger and Lobber.
Sally is Spread.
I don't remember Chaser being useful in any boss fight, but it was useful for me in the Pier Run and Gun.
I like the round about
chaser is still good for me, because you can only focus on dodging, unless something you cannot or do not need to kill is being targeted instead of the boss
Roundabout just seems like a better Chaser for me, since even if you turn to the other side in order to dodge, your shot will come back and probably still hit the enemy. If you jump with Roundabout, you can control the entire screen. It's useful when there's a lot of minor things going on at the screen, like at the Phantom Express fight where the Ghost Cyclops keeps throwing his eyes at you.
But overall, Charger is really the best alternative weapon in the game, you can focus on dodging and release your shot when you get the opportunity, accumulating all of your damage in a single attack. It completely destroys most bosses. It's almost overpowered.
Many of the GOOD players hate the chaser because they can aim and the chaser deals such abyssmal damage(around half that of the peashooter) to everything and fails to kill ANYTHING fast enough.
Many of the times you WANT to use Chaser(you have to jump on platform and not look at boss), the Roundabout is better. Roundabout is the choice weapon for minions and adds, scrapping most of them in only 2 hits and it fires backwards too.
Spread is also great for adds, not like Roundabout, but against stationary targets like Beppi, spread rakes in damage and can rival charge shot, like a poster before just said.
Charge shot is for bosses who stand still and don't fill the screen with minions you must get rid of or suffer.
Also, it doesn't help that all of us here have watched big streamers play this and phail miserably, all because they equipped Chaser like the noobs they are.
I also forgot, those who like the bomb weapon on the airplane will likely find Lobber to be their cup of tea. Does similar things with the oomf to go with it. Not my thing though.
I used Roundabout in my successful Piers run. Twin Heart for the Piers P rank run.
and yes, i would have honestly not beaten bvbb if it wasn't for the chaser
usually it just depends on the boss
I think it's for people who have trouble aiming at a certain boss. I prefer to play normally, die and learn the attacks so I can dodge them normally and use the weapon that will give me the most damage. But hey, if Chaser's your cup you tea (ha!), then who am I to judge?
