Satellite Reign

Statistiche:
Low FPS on a good graphics card
I am getting low fps, about 26-30 FPS on my pc even after turning down AA, lowering my screen res to 1600x900, and disabling SSAO. Anyone know what can easily boost the FPS here? Any graphical settings that are performance hogs? Or is it just the fact this game is still poorly optimized?

My specs are i7 4800 HQ Quad core processor
GTX 860M 2 GB
and 8GB of CPU RAM

SSR and SSAO can be performance hog for example. on some GPu's even reducing textures resolution helps. some folks with medium-to low GPU's played SR with V-Sync and trippled-buffering enforcement(by 3rd party software) there is plently of things you or developers may do, but generally they all had downsides/drawnacls. i wish game had not only screen-space AA but super-sampling too. and perhaps Vulkan API support, because developers considering Linux as major platform and its gonna be major "cross-platform API" in near future, converging "GL Next", Mantle and other stuff from all Khronos members to support on. thinking about DirectX12 also not bad, considering thats MINIMAL(!!)performance boost would be ~30% even on mid-end GPU's(on lower-end its even bigger, ironically).

as for popular tweaks among folks struggling with games "above usual HW limits" - check some gaming and hardware -relevant resources. some tricks are quite old, some instead - appliceable only for new drivers and OS.

i have an 3770k @ 4.3 with a 290 tri-x and i am getting around 70 FPS with everything maxed.... game is 100% GPU bound for me

Nice, but now try running SR on 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 instead of that small resolution you have there :p
And don't use the intro level, I get better framerates there as well.
Use for instance the same spot I was in, to get a beter comparison. I was in The Grid on Musk Circle.

I have the ASUS R9290-DC2OC-4GD5, which has the same specs as your 290 tri-x.

BTW, it still can be cpu bound, your i7 has 8 cores (4 + 4HT) so if Unity scales with the number of cores, than it has more time to feed the gpu, which results in the gpu at 100%, making it gpu bound as well as cpu bound (because of crappy Unity engine).

satilite reign doesn't support my "normal rez" of 3840X1024 ( 3x 17inch 5:4 monitors). the HUD is "wrong" so im forced to 1280x1024.

in 3840X1024 which is very close to 2560x1440 in terms of pixels( its about 10% more) in the same spot im getting ~30-32 fps

How well would this game run on a GTX 750 SC, i5 3330 and 8GB RAM system, on 1080p with medium game settings?

on GTX750 ? not so good, im afraid so. had to say same for 90% of rest games or ~ so.

For comparison, here are my screenshots and framerates for that same area, 2560x1440:
With SSR, 28 FPS: http://i.imgur.com/uYXGnuJ.jpg
Without SSR, 43 FPS: http://i.imgur.com/dAkHLfz.jpg
judging from options impact - game may be API/engine or simply CPU-bound/bottlenecked.

@himmatsj we run gtx750's in the office that card is fine for 1080p so long as you dont have SSRR on.
How bad would this game run on my Nvidia 9800 gt 1 gb + Intel core 2 duo 2.2.ghz ?
Because if 30 fps to above I can live with that just fine as long the game will not run slow.
on a 980 and a 3770k I get about 37 fps with all the things on @ 1440p So it's certianly CPU bound. Dying light runs at 45 maxed out @ 3620x2036 (DSR 2x native).

Hey they call it unity because it's not very good at doing multi-core things... right?
No, they call it Unity because they are super mutants, led by a master. Will you join the Unity? Or die? Join. Die. Join. Die.

I'm convinced that I am the first person on the internet to make a joke like that. :steambored:
Found this thread looking into my FPS on this title. With a i7 6700k @ 4.6Ghz and a GTX 1070 I'm getting 40ish FPS at 1440p. Doesn't compare especially well with Doom 2016 as an example, which gives my 90FPS on Ultra.

I'd be VERY skeptical about your performance on that system. My i5 4590 at 3.7GHz, 8GB RAM, r9 285 gets about 40fps at 1920x1200 on medium settings, population density medium, no AA etc. -- basically it looks mediocre and runs extremely badly. Everything I've come to expect from Unity engine games. I can't really enjoy it like this. If I wanted to sacrifice graphics, I'd go fire up Syndicate Wars instead.

Stop necro a year old thread, I don't even have the same computer.
Get REKT!

The performance is a bit odd ball on this thing, I get 40-46fps @1600p

The thing is, even if I drop settings back, so turning quality down to high and turning off AA and some of the other bottom options, the needle hardly moves at all ^^ I can even turn everything on / ultra AND DSR to 4K and the frames still stay around 40fps! Using a 980ti OC'd.

The dev did respond saying the CPU role shouldnt be overlooked (and for my own curiosity I'll have some monitoring app on next time so I can see whats doing what), but just as an FYI, I have a 6850k @4.3, so if that isnt enough to handle pathfinding, that would be pretty damn bad!
wasteland 2 use the unity engine too, but i have no fps drops in wasteland 2..... but satellite reign runs horrible...
