Shields or Heavy Armor - Grid
So hit the Ethereal Armory and got the choice of Heavy Armor or shields. Only have light armor at the moment, no shields.

Just wondering what is better in the long run? Shields or armor? Any suggestions appreciated!

Why not both? Time to invest in pack mule :)
Both are pretty good depending on what you are fighting. But I'd go with shield since it regend.

It seems like the quest description I have to choose one or the other, otherwise I would take both :D

I picked the Shield but ended up with both by the time I left the Armory area anyways.

I'd suggest the shields every time, unless you already have AE100 Heavy Shields. I'm fed up with armor that gets shot to pieces and then takes forever to regen, The soldier's Harden ability only prevents damage to health, so the damage doesn't stop until all armor is gone anyway. Same thing applies to the support's Nanobot Heal and all other healing. Doesn't come into play until armor is already gone. Heavy Armor is just 250 extra points for 20 minutes, and that's almost nothing, and certainly not worth the -15% speed. Maybe good for emergencies, but not for someone who's planning to fight and prepare for it adequately.

But I guess armor is pretty good for the opposition, since they get a fresh armor with every soldier they send out.

Shields.
This will piss off Uzi, but I was done with Industrial district, so it had literally no effect.

Definately shields, fast regen and decent protection. Sure armor lasts longer but the regen speed is ridiculously slow which makes it worthless after heavy combat, whereas shields regen to full quickly after a fight.

you can buy the other at black market

The armor reduce your movement speed, not worth it

I picked the shields, since I already get some armor from cyber augmentations. Now I have two layers of defense, and a cool visual effect to boot.

I realised I actually got Medium Armor from another mission and those medium (R5 I think) shields from that one. Nice beef up to protection :D

I use both on all agents due to dual protection. If I had to pick one then shields due to regen aye.

Plasma weapons tend to be rather rare. Enemies with laser miniguns have started to crop up in my game, so shields are of dubious benefit.

Oh, I'm sorry, I meant "hijacked" enemies with laser miniguns. ^.^

I picked armor for the quest and did not like it due to slowing the agents down. But luckily, seems to be able to get the shield via black market later.

Ha, I chose shields because they regenerate quickly, I had a small amount of armour from augmentations (head and arms) and had no idea that the wearable armour slowed down the agents, guess I just learned something new.
