Can someone summarize the ending for me?

I finished the game today but I had difficulties following the story. Can someone please tell me what the hell did happen?

One of the last logs that you can find in the 40 different data terminals revealed that Tag was working for Mother (the 'benefactor'), and apparently Mother crashed all the satellites, which is why she helped Tag upload the virus through Dengler's personal Res-Tech connection, which in turn is why he had to be killed. Tag had no idea Mother would triplecross her, and thought that she really would get access to the Res-Tech satellite network.

Why Mother crashed the satellites is open for discussion, and is being discussed in the other thread about the ending. The bigger one. With the spoilers for other games, apparently. Although the spoilers were deleted I believe, and hasn't been introduced?

And Mother was someone who worked for the Eternals and helped Tag and the rebels steal the Res-Tec. Mother got caught, and Res-Tec was used to make her into Mother, the new leader of the Eternals.

Also one of the logs has Dengler talk about being prepared for everyone to turn against him. So he was probably the one who made Satellite Reign possible, the ending we see. Mother chose to activate it. As Gillsing points out, we are not told why Mother does any of this or who she really is.
