My own middle mouse button has a scroll wheel on it, and it is ludicrous to expect me to be able to press that button while moving the mouse, and at the same time not scroll the wheel. So I never use the button feature for anything. (Linux wants me to use it for copying text. Ha! Silly Linux...)
A minor concern, but a good gaming mouse will fix this. I have used logitech mice and corsair mice (never buy a corsair mouse!!!) and they have really nice, tactile mousewheels that function perfectly as thier own button.
On cheapo office mice it can be fairly difficult to just press one though.
Last time I moved mouse pointer to the edge of the screen was when I played Command & Conquer on DOS PC. 8)
Satellite Reign is much convenient when you drag the screen with a mouse button.
