We cannot help the difference in terminology but can only use the options Steam has provided for us.
Here's a link to show you the options available http://imgur.com/jWxeg0B
Anyway, is there a plan to add "splitscreen"? It could be on oe screen without split if you know what i mean. With two controller or something. Is anything like that an option for the future?
No matter what, im looking forward to play it. Alone or with a friend, doesnt really matter in this case, because i already have it :)
WetWired, this is incorrect. This is not the intent behind there being a Local Multi-player and Shared/Split screen tag. The Local Multi-player and Local Co-op tags are in no way intended to be used for LAN.
Here's a brief history of the recent Players tag changes to better explain why:
Originally there was no Local tags at all. Only Shared/Split Screen. When you picked this on the dev interface under Players it applied the Local Co-op tag to your game on the Steam Store page. This was understandably confusing for Devs and a lot of them were using the tag incorrectly so I asked Valve to change the Shared/Split Screen tag on the devs side to Local Co-op and add a Local Multi-player tag. Valve, rather than converting the Shared/Spit Screen tag to Local Co-op, created a new tag but left the old tag in place so devs could convert to the new system at their convenience.
In other words, Shared/Split Screen is an obsolete tag which has been replaced with Local Multi-player and Local Co-op. These tags are in no way intended to be used for LAN. The correct tag for your game (since it features co-operative gameplay across a network/the internet) is Online Co-op. Since I don't believe your game incorporates competitive elements, the Multi-player tag is unnecessary.
If you really want to stress that your game features LAN based play, the best tag to use would be the Co-op tag. Local (in the context of the Steam Store Players tags) means same computer, not same network, and using that tag is only going to frustrate your customers.
TL;DR
Please remove the following tags as they may confuse your customers:
Multi-player
Online Multi-player
Local Multi-player
Local Co-op
Please keep the following tag:
Online Co-op
If you wish, feel free to also use the Co-op tag to show your game has LAN but not shared PC Co-op as this is kind of a catch-all tag.
If the game does have a competitive mode, please ignore the request to remove the Multi-player specific tags above.
